Reunited and it feels so good!!! Say hello to my old friend, the Bullet!

in #music7 years ago

Ok now that I got those silly little song lyrics out of the way in the title, let me tell you a story about this old guitar and how it recently came back into my life.

This was the first electric guitar that I ever played in a band. I played it for about 2 years, and due to incredibly unfortunate circumstances, we disbanded. Since the guitar didn’t belong to me, it was returned to its owner and eventually sold. I thought I would never see it again.

I’ve played music of sorts for over half of my life, but when I joined my first band, I didn’t own an electric guitar. I’ve owned various acoustic guitars since I was about 11 or 12 years old, but when I decided to form a band with a few of my friends in my early twenties, I needed an electric!!!

Our bassist in my first band was originally a guitarist and this 1981 Fender Bullet actually belonged to his dad. The two of them were kind enough to let me use the Bullet to write, play, and perform with our band.

We were starting to get a hand full of shows and we were getting ready to start touring when the unthinkable happened: One of our best friends... our drummer Tim, was killed in a car accident. He was one of a kind and pretty much irreplaceable, as far as this band was concerned. We simply couldn’t go on without him and the band came to an unexpected and unwanted end. We miss him terribly, every single day....

Fast forward over 10 years later: I’ve been playing in a band called “Sideways Geoffrey” for about 6 or 7 years. I’ve been using my old faithful Gretsch Electromatic hollow body (which I love, love, love) But I’ve recently been talking about the possibility of buying a solid body guitar that would be more fitting for the style of music that we currently play.

Here are a few old photos of my old band and the Bullet back in 2008:

My hubby @jasonrussell and our good friend Dustin tracked down the old Bullet and purchased it.... for crypto!! How effing cool is that?!? So now it’s back in my possession and I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on it again and play it at our next practice! It’s almost like seeing an old friend for the first time in a decade. This guitar has so many special memories and I am so, so, SO thrilled that we have been reunited!

That's amazeballs, Melbert. We all have such awesome friends. I'm glad you got Bullet for your very own.

Our friends are the best! Now that I have this guitar back, I’ll never let it go!

That's damn cool, I have had a lot of guitars but I would love the steinberger transtrem I had back, sad having to sell stuff to live but I wouldn't change anything if it meant I wouldn't end up where I am.

I feel ya! I’ve had to give up so many of my prized possessions to pay the bills, but I’ve promised myself that no matter how hard times get, I will never let go of my Gretsch and this Fender.

Good job friend

That's one weird and cool Fender

Haha, thanks! I love this guitar!

I just read this, this is really cool that you could get the guitar again!

I am beyond happy that it’s back in my life now!
