A lot of people my age know the song "Zombie" because it would pop up in those VH1 series that went through popular media of the decade, like "I Love The 90s". Zombie would always come up on the TV when 90s Great Hits CDs were being advertised. I'm glad I took the dive into their music. They could be dark and heavy but also come up with lighter, dreamier tracks.
Listening to her and the band was a good outlet for the angst and frustration you feel as a teenager. I would listen to them in the halls of my high school as I was walking from class to class. Dolores had such a powerful, unconventional voice. Listening to "Salvation" felt like such a beautiful escape from all the craziness of high school. The transcendent feel of Dolores on the chorus had me so hooked. I'm glad a lot of other people my age know about them and can appreciate their music.
Hearing of her passing really struck me, I knew she wasn't that old and didn't know she had any health issues. News is still coming out on what happened to her, we will find out more in the coming days. Rest in peace Dolores, thank you for sharing your art and soul with us :'(
