Recommendation: Hans Zimmer's Masterclass
I got this class as a gift and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in music and its role in filmmaking.
The Masterclass Hub offers many opportunities to collaborate with other enthusiasts both on real projects and on class challenges.
Getting to see how Zimmer's mind works is insightful. For example, he talks about imagining a sound and then creating it, saying "use the machine, don't let the machine use you".
In contrast, and especially when making electronic music, I often just fiddle with the knobs and keep the sounds I like. Since I took this class, I've been trying this other more conscious and directed approach.
It's refreshing to see someone as successful as Zimmer admit they don't know what they're doing and that they're just trying to tell good stories. He discusses some favorites, such as the Sherlock Holmes and Batman series, and talks about the driving narrative or character motivation and how it guided his musical choices. It's simple and real and it works.
I'd be curious to hear about what has inspired others on Steemit to change the way they work or try something new in their creative field.
Cheers(:

I was seriously considering buying this masterclass. Never got around to it, but maybe I will. Especially if there is a decent community to learn with/from and perhaps collaborate with. Thanks for the review!
