JustDiscuss #1: What's Your Favorite Bamd/Artist, Steemit? Let's Talk!
August 30th, 2017
So, I wanted to start doing some Steemit-exclusive conversations and discussions with my followers and other people interested in discussing music and the music industry in general. Hell, some of them might not have anything to do with music at all, as I, like everyone else, have plenty of other interests. The JustDiscuss series will be something I do whenver I feel the urge, for now. Eventually, I hope to get to the point where I can do it on a regular basis. Some topics may be repeated as my followers and the Steemit platfor in general grow, but I'll try to keep it as diverse as possible!
While this is a very hard question for me to answer, I feel like I can put my finger on it with a few caveats. For a long time, I considered Circa Survive to be my favorite band but within the last five years or so, I grew out of them, or at least wasn't a fan of their newer sound. Dnace Gavin Dance is another of my favorites and has a HUGE influence on my taste in music but they've had so many different eras and sounds and vocalists that it makes it hard for me to name them as my favorite.
The band I would name as my favorite, though, is unlike almost anyone else I listen to. Murder by Death is a folk-rock band from Indiana and have found a special place in my heart since 2010 or so. They write soulful, cinematic albums that tell unique stories that are right up my alley and I can't help but love them. They've had member changes, of course, having been around for fifteen years or so, but the core group has mostly stayed the same and since their third album, their sound has lived within a certain style that fits them so well and they can change and experiment as need be.
Another thing that makes me enjoy them so much is the fact that they're such wonderful and interesting people. I've seem them live three times and gotten to talk to and interact with them each time without it feeling liek a chore on their part. Two of the members even remembered us from the previous show we'd met them at. They're fun, they're honest, they're humble and they're just plain great people to talk to.
Everything they do is artistic and unique. They make cool art projects, odd clothing items, interesting vinyl packaging and many other pieces of memorabilia for fans to keep and use. From flasks to custom long-Johns to art books with every tour poster or art piece they've ever had, they always have something to make fans want to support them.
This is an Audiotree session with them! I definitely recommend checking them out.
So, that's my part of the discussion! Please, comment below and tell me who your favorite band or artist is and give some reasons! I'd love to discuss with you guys and see what everyone likes around these parts. I'll do my best to get back to everyone and keep the conversation going. All types of music are welcome here, or even if you have other questions for me, please free free to shoot!
