You never heard the "hotel california" solo played like THIS [video inside]steemCreated with Sketch.

After I finished recording, I listened to the solo again.. and thought to myself... "hey man, this is not half bad........."
I drifted off, fantasizing about myself being a lead guitarist with the Eagles. Holy moly! Would that ever be a dream come true.

R E W I N D .

The first time I 'learned' music was in this music institute in Toronto about a decade ago. My instructor played the intro solo of "I know A Little" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I was amazed at the technical and melodic artistry behind that solo. He told me that we'd take things step by step and that he'd teach me how to play it.

Come next session, about a week later, I walk into 'class' with most of the solo under my belt! Now, I'm no Steve Gaines, but I was sure close enough. Especially for my instructor, who was dumbfounded by my speed at learning.

Devotion, baby.

Rather than considering my pace, he insisted we stay on that same solo for a few weeks.

No can do, Sir!

F A S T - F O R E W A R D .

A few years later, I found myself giving guitar lessons to students interested in playing lead guitar. Rather than boring them, I gave them exciting lessons and challenges, homework assignments and accommodated their pace.

Y'really can't effectively teach a person the exact same lesson to another person. That is why life is the best teacher out there. The most valuable lessons are ones customized to the student's individual pace and preferred 'style' of learning.

♡ Thanks for chiming in. ♡

UPDATE @kurakira asked a good question in the comments:
"Did you write the solo or just improvised in front of the camera ?"

Answer: I improvised the second half! Anything that's not the original solo was improvised. I didn't jump on this track without practice though, it's on my backing track playlist, so I've improvised on it a few times before recording. Thanks for your question @kurakira, show the man some love! :)

Well played, i like your style. Did you write the solo or just improvised in front of the camera ? We can feel good emotion, even if the sound quality is not at the best.

Thanks a lot mate! Good point, I will mention you in the post and answer this question :)

Apologies for the sound quality! I definitely look forward investing into some equipment. This was a phone video. Cheers!

Haha thank you for mentioning me in your post !
Nice you have great improvisation, you know your scales and you have trust in your play.
I'm a guitarist too and i find your work interesting, I'm following you, so we can try to make a solo contest someday ;)

Haha I'd definitely be up for that dude! I always have this idea in my head to organize a guitar solo contest event, with rockstar judges. Lol!
Looking forward to connecting, really appreciate your feedback!

Wow you're really good man, great post! My buddy who I make music with is a guitarist, producing electronic music with a lot of guitar is very interesting to say the least. I wish you the best of luck in your musical ventures my friend, resteemed!

Thank you so much! I'm humbled to say the least. I would love to hear some of your buddy's tunes! Says you're a DJ/Producer in your profile, I'm about to scout for some of your music also :)

Cheers mate!

No worries man! I've linked a song by his band below if you're interested, I'm good friends with all 3 members of the band.

Haha I appreciate it man however I mainly DJ, I've got a track released but its not as good as what I've got in the works at the moment. I'll be sure to post it on steemit once its done. Looking forward to your future posts! :)

That song is AWESOME! Has a nirvana feel to it which I adore - we didn't get enough of Kobain's music in his lifetime!
Really appreciating you sharing this. Recently posted a gloomy poem you might be interested in checking out! If you like vampires and rhyme poetry that is.

I know what you mean about posting things in the works as opposed to things from the history books. I can relate. But there's always something interesting to say about each project! Where you were sitting, what thoughts were on your mind, even what snacks you were eating or what issues/celebrations you were going through at the time. This puts emphasis on the experience of that moment, as opposed to the artistry of the music.. You feel me?

Glad you like it, I'm sure they'll be happy to hear that. Of course, I'll check your poem out now! Always love supporting artists on any creative endeavours!

Exactly man! It's nice to find someone like minded, I think a musical piece is almost like a snapshot of the musicians current mental and emotional state, condensed into sound. It represents whatever experiences that person had in life which lead up to making that exact song. This is why I think music is such a deep and powerful thing, it goes far deeper than just the sound itself :)

Pretty much nailed it with the music/psychology interpretation! Good music sure comes from the heart and soul, doesn't it

Totally enjoying your comments! Hope you liked the poem :) I hope I can tantalize you with more creativity in the future. You're a good man!

Awesome! I love this song
