Songs That Stand Out:
#1 Folgers Crystals.
Produced by Elite & J. Cole.
This song is definitely dope. The beat, the lyrics. This is Cole just straight doing is thing. I play this one loud in my car every time I'm rollin' around. Heard this song before I even bought this album, so I was happy to see that it was the first track.
#3 Backseat.
Ari Lennox featuring Cozz.
Produced by DJ Grumble.
Every collective of artists, has their lady (or ladies). That's Ari Lennox. The beautiful soothing voice of Dreamville Records. This song has a very sexual vibe to it, which I enjoy very much. She's pretty much singing about gettin' it in the back seat of her car. Which is wonderful. When Cozz hops in, he adds rap element to it, flows perfectly to the instrumental. Definitely play this one with your girl, I bet she'll like it.
#4 Caged Bird.
J. Cole featring Omen.
Produced by Meez.
This song is absolutely beautiful. It's about exactly what the name implies. Being a caged bird here in the united states. The beat is fantastic and I love that line by Omen where he says "I coulda been a shorty drinking 40 on the steps // With a shorty on my lap, with a shorty on the way // Coming shortly to protect". Shit goes hard.
#5 48 Laws.
Omen featuring Donnie Trumpet.
Produced Elite.
I LOVE THIS SONG. Definitely an inspirational one. One that tells you, you can change your odd, keep playing the game, don't give up just yet. "I played my cards and changed the odds, my nigga, how 'bout it?" One of my favorite lines from the song is the way he ends one of his verses where he says "Born poet, nigga, fuck a song here's a sonnet." This shit is ill.
