| What is Your Favorite Band/Group, Musician or Song? |

Music -

-is not only a necessary part of my day but a huge piece of my inspiration as an artist myself. Along with visual art I ventured off into a little bit of creating music. Producing Instrumentals, recording friends vocals and ghost writing for some. I write a lot of lyrics and poems for myself but I haven't done much with vocally projecting them. (I'd like to change that though!)

As far back as I can remember the music is what brings back the memories. We all have had our phases in taste and favorite bands / musicians. We all have that one song that brings certain faces to light inside our minds. Its crazy how powerful a bunch of organized noises and sounds can truly be when bouncing around in ones subconsciousness.

My taste for music is currently everywhere.. And I mean EVERYWHERE 😂
Rock, Alt Rock, Indie, Rap/Hip Hop, Metal, Older Country and some experimental stuff then even to older music like Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Santana.. The list goes on.

When it comes to favorites though at the moment they'd have to be..

- Max Bemis and all the projects he's connected to ('Say Anything', 'Perma' (A duo with him and his amazingly talented wife, Sherri) and 'Max Bemis & The Painful Splits')

(Max and his wife Sherri Bemis - These humans are such a huge inspiration to my life. )

- 'Built to Spill' - Indie Rock.

('Keep it Like a Secret' probalby my favorite album by them but their discography is great in my opinion)

- 'Eyedea' / 'Eyedea & Abilities' - Alt Hip Hop.

|Rest in Peace Micheal David Larsen|

This guy I cant even begin to explain the amount of knowledge he had and his philosophical take on life was otherworldly.. He was part of a hip hop collective 'Rhymesayers Entertainment' out of my home state, Minnesota.. If you like hip hop or even if you don't.. If you just like gaining a new perspective on things check out his work..
There was also recently a documentary done on his life and the impact he had on his local scene.. 'The World Has No Eyedea' done by director Brandon Crowson. (https://www.facebook.com/theworldhasnoeyedea/) - (https://www.theworldhasnoeyedea.com/)

'First Born'
Here is a good place to start!
Thank me later... ;D

- 'Mac Miller' / 'Larry Fisherman' - Hip Hop.

I have watched this dude just freestyle rap at school with his friends on youtube to blowing up and signing a 10 million dollar contract.. He is an amazing producer and is talented with many instruments. I have been listening to Mac since day one and I support the guy in what ever direction he chooses for his music.

'FACES' Such an lyrically abstract and out there hip hop album.

- 'Chance the Rapper' - Hip Hop.

Every project hes done, hes given away for free... This guy is 100% dedicated to what he does. Chance did it all with no label and even took home 3 grammys..

'Acid Rap' I love this album and it has such a great vibe.

(Not in any order)

I'm looking to grow what I listen to. I know everyone's taste is different and really want to give my ears some new gems!

I always have been, and always will be a huge fan of new kids on the block and Backstreet boys... Although I do love me some 70s rock and 90s alternative... As for the older stuff, Pink Floyd and Journey are probably my faves :)

Nine Inch Nails is the greatest band ever of all time and history.

I gotta say that hands down, my all-time favorite musical artist is Beck... Despite his scientology BS...
Beck Buck.jpg

I remember buying Mellow Gold at HMV on release.

"He hung himself with a guitar string
Slap the turkey neck and it's hangin' from a pigeon wing
You can't write if you can't relate
Trade the cash for the beef for the body for the hate
And my time is a piece of wax fallin' on a termite
Who's chokin' on the splinters"

Still get it stuck in my head. lol

I am still trying to process his new album, Colors... It's growing on me, but I don't know if I like it... Those lyrics you quoted are stellar!!!

to be honest i don't think I have heard anything off his new album...but i will check it out . @booster

I have been really down on it for awhile, since he promised a year ago to release it, and all we got was a car commercial! So pissed about that... Made it hard to even appreciate my musical messiah...

26 years too early. Super polItitically charged songs and lyrics. If this album was realeased today....boy oh boy.... "Killing in the name" would be the American anthem.

All time.....Van Halen Currently, I've got my Pandora station set to Halestorm.

Top 5 or so....Halestorm, Icon for Hire, Shinedown, Stone Sour, Foo Fighters

This may not be the coolest track,

but it is a true story. My favourite piece of music (From among many) is Clair De Lune by Debussy . It inspired my whole musical life and I began writing and producing music from the age of about 15.

My Grandad

was a classically trained pianist. Although he loved to play boogie woogie he would play haunting and complex pieces and this piece of music enchanted me as a child. I would sit underneath the piano as a small boy (where the acoustics go right through you) and wonder how could a piece of music be so sad and melancholic and yet so uplifting at the same time. It was a formal influence on my ambient techno, cinematic output and later straight piano sonatas of my own.

here's a piece inspired by my Grandad's piano teachings on soundcloud. I titled it Ivory Towers and it's a simple piano and bass piece in 3 parts. https://soundcloud.com/outerground/ivory-towers

It was their music

I later found out it was my Grandma's favourite and he would play if for her. They were together for more than 50 years and after my Grandad came back from World War 2 and various tank battles (he was a tank lieutenant who saw action in Egypt, Sicily, Greece), they never spent a night apart.

Richard & Audrey Fennah

It still haunts me and I listened to it today. It made me want to write some new music. There's an amazing piece of graphical scoring using the musical animation machine to this piece which helped explain the mechanics of how it's Supposed to be played. I don't have the co-ordination to play it but I learned how to write with help from various software over the years. I also produce animation and really like abstract work so this is kind of Nirvana for me. My own personal *Fanstasia

Here's Clair de Lune with the animation, piano played by Stephen Malinowski

Very smooth sounding. I love piano and I'd like to learn some time. Thank you for sharing this with me and I appreciate the amount of effort you put into your comment as well!

thanks @drtarts. I couldn't resist. I mean music is so much of who and what I am on the inside that I could name 100's of tracks /albums which really influenced me from The opening movement of Eroica by Beethoven to Brian Wilson's Smile, Abbey Road by John & Paul (I went to the same school as John), Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald, Man Parrish, Hip Hop be Bop, 6Feet High & Rising by the mighty DelaSoul.. I have to stop here. It's just great to see a post by someone so passionate about music that I nod my head reading it. I listen to John Coltrane in the car, to keep my head level when driving and listen to classic FM in the mornings. Music is so important, I often joke that Jazz is probably the most popular form of music in the Galaxy. (it probably is)

So far you're in the lead. 😁

cool. that's nice to know :) thanks
