The Art of The DJ: Putting the Pioneer CDJ's Under The Test | Digital Turntablism

in #music7 years ago (edited)

Peace Steemit!

In this short showcase clip I was asked to put the Pioneer CDJ's under the test as a HipHop DJ/Turntablist coming from vinyl and turntables background. I tried to focus here on speed and accuracy then flipping to other tricks like scratching and music doubling.

I also use this demo showcase with my DJ Students to show them that mostly the same tricks and techniques that can be done on turntables can also be manipulated using digital players like the Pioneer CDJ's in this example.

Let me know if you are you a DJ? Do you prefer to spin on Turntables, CD Players or Midi Controllers? Why?
Kudos!

I also come from a vinyl background. DJ since 84. Went digital vinyl in 06 then I started using a controller about 5 years ago now. Never really messed with CDJs although I'd like to get a pair of XDJs soon as I can afford it. I miss the feel of a spinning platter but I know I'llbe happier with the spinning LED in the center of the jog. Found you through a resteem. Gonna follow. Keep up the good work!

Peace mah man, thank u for coming through and your feedback. Its great we witnessed the evolution of the sound and gear we got access to the best of all worlds haha. Followed u back! Kudos

xdjs are killer. have the mk2s and totally changed my dj game (upgrading from cdj 200)

🔥 wicked brother, mad juggling skills there (no pun intended 😂) yeah they all get the job done, it's amazing to play tracks from people you know or one's own music (main reason I got traktor scratch), for me nothing like a good old technics turntable and vinyl (plus the warmth and low end, but that's another deep topic), zero lag + no extra buttons/screens (vinyl forever, but I'll play with whatever's available anytime tho)...
In the end its all about getting the task done and personal preferences, good track selection and flow is way more important than equipment imho, nice post @djlethalskillz

Salute bro! appreciate ur feedback. Totally agree with u on the turntable and vinyl bit, turntables and vinyl all day anyday but I dont miss carrying my turntables or my vinyl crates to venues after decades of spinning haha def each brings its own set of advantages and disadvantages I always recommend to have all if one can afford that includes midi controller and any other toys that can boost creativity and creation

oh back pain from carrying the decks and crates was the worst 😅 forgot about that part lol.. and yeah gotta be open and take advantage of all the available tools

nice post man

@djlethalskillz spining turntables issa mindblowing thing. thumbsup
