Mongolian Alternative Rock Music & Morin Khuur Musical Instrument

I just joined Steemit and I figured I would use my first post to share some music and related info, I recently found out about. See, I'm a huge music fan in general and particularly a musical instruments fanatic. A couple of weeks ago I started of listening to Alan Stivell's Son ar chistr / Brian Boru on YouTube and some hours later, following multiple automatic recommendations, I got to some really impressive Mongolian Rock music.

Ever since I found this, I've had it on repeat. They're called Hanggai and they blend Mongolian Folk Music with modern styles like rock and punk rock. This song is called The Rising Sun (初生的太阳 汉语字幕版).

Another song from them which I find truly amazing is called Reincarnation (《轮回》 ), performed live here:

Morin Khuur
The bowed stringed instrument played is a traditional Mongolian instrument called Morin Khuur (Mongolian: морин хуур), also known as horsehead fiddle, which has two strings, one slightly thicker than the other. The thicker string is made from 130 hairs of a Stallion's tail, the other is made from 103 hairs of a Mare's tail. I find it a truly fascinating instrument and it appears that they are only made in Mongolia, mainly in the capital Ulaanbaatar as far as I could find.

Given the title (in Latin: "Ethno-rock band "Moriton" Republic of Buryatia") I figured that the band is called "Moriton" (Моритон) and I think the song is called "Saihan". They have quite a unique sound in my opinion and they're an extremely hard band to find when you're not using a Cyrillic keyboard, so I figured I share it here as well.

This one is no Alternative Rock, but it's an interesting one for enthusiasts of musical instruments. The three-string plucked musical instrument played is called the Shanz or Shudraga in Mongolia. In Japan this instrument is also known as Shamisen and in China as Sanxian.

The group is called Shanz 3 and the song is called Elsen tsul as far as I could figure out.
