BATTLE OF THE BANDS - RANKING THE 90´S BANDS

Oh the 90’s, the last great decade of music!

Let’s Rank the best bands of this awesome decade of music.

1. PEARL JAM – With their first 3 albums being amazing, one after the other, PJ was the King of the early 90´s. PJ was a band with integrity that took on Ticketmaster and made music they believed in, even if it wasn’t as popular with everyone.
2. READIOHEAD – In a vacuum, I would rank Radiohead #1. Talent and creativity unmatched, cryptic vocals, these lads have it all. In my opinion the best band of the last 30 years.
3. NIRVANA – The grunge movement defined the early 90´s and Nirvana was at the forefront. Their work was cut short by the tragic death of Kurt Cobain, but their influence was immense.
4. SUBLIME – When I think back to partying and hanging out with friends in the 90’s I think about Sublime playing on the sound system. Just an amazing band that most people loved, ended far too soon with the passing of Bradley Nowell.
5. GREEN DAY – The band that took the punk revival of the 90’s mainstream.
6. RED HOT CHILLY PEPPERS – Not one of my personal favorites but their influence, following and consistently quality records cannot be ignored.
7. THE SMASHING PUMPKINS – These guys had some of my favorite songs, their first few albums were great and one of those bands that I loved playing them very loud.
8. RAGE AGAINTS THE MACHINE – Ditto for playing them LOUD. Their sound never really evolved and their music kept sounding similar, but those first 2 albums were money.
9. BEASTY BOYS – Sabotage is an anthem of the 90’s, Ill communication is one of the best albums of the 90’s.
10. NOFX – A band that holds a special place for me, rebellious anti-establishment without being to serious.

Honorable mentions: Weezer, Oasis, Stone Temple Pilots, Beck, Foo Fighters, REM

With the sad state of music today we can always reminisce about the good old days.
