Hello steemit community, I hope you are well, today I want to dedicate the following post to one of my favorite musicians, the British Divod Gilmour, who celebrated his 72nd birthday this week. The historical member and vocalist of Pink Floyd, one of the most successful rock bands of the 70's and the history of rock in general. David Jon Gilmour, born March 6, 1942 in Cambridge, England. As a child he showed great interest in music, later becoming a professional multi-instrumentalist.

This wonderful genre, like rock is surely not the same without the role of Gilmour, which over time would become one of the most influential musicians in history, showing for several decades its quality and a particular artistic touch, first as a member of Pink Floyd and then solo.

Their story with Pink Floyd began progressively, when the band members (Roger, Richard and Nick) decided to exclude their leader Syd Barrett from live performances, because their drug addiction was being out of control, leaving space as a guitarist for these events, so decided to recruit David to take his place at first only for the rehearsals and touches of the band when Syd suffered a mental block produced by LSD. Syd was worsening over time his addiction to drugs which influenced his compositions making them more abstract and in April 1968 decided to exclude him permanently making the official inclusion of David Gilmour to the band.

From that moment, Gilmour established himself as one of the leaders of the band, composer, main guitarist, as well as playing keyboards, harmonica and saxophone, capturing all his musical talent, becoming the eighth best guitarist of all time for the magazine "Total Guitar" and the fourteenth in the magazine "Rolling Stones". It was an important part of the classic albums of the group as 'The Dark Side Of The Moon', 'The Wall', 'Wish You Were Here', 'Animals', 'Atom Heart Mother', and then, after the departure of Waters , in 'The Division Bell' and 'The Endless River'.

David Gilmour is and will be a legend, who came to Pink Floyd as a temporary substitute and became one of the most important and influential icons in the history of Rock, of course his solo career reaffirmed that position of being one of the best .

Recall one of Gilmour's gems as a member of Pink Floyd, "Confortably Numb" piece that contains the best guitar solo of all time. Being also the last live performance in which we would see gathered the members of the British group (Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Whight and Nick Mason)
