Review of the movie "The Meg"

in #movies6 years ago

The Meg is an American fantasy thriller from director John, whose name I can not just pronounce, but you are familiar with this director for the stupid sorcerer's Apprentice and quite a good one Starpers. The plot revolves around Jason Stetham - the greatest actor of our time, who is invited to the research station, located next to the Mariana Trench. There, the crew was stuck at the very bottom and Statham should save them. Our hero meets a huge shark - Megalodona. Scientists together with Stethem will try to stop the shark. Here such here an outset.

Surprisingly, such a particularly unremarkable film has attracted so many people that there were practically no empty seats in the hall and it was at 11 am! I do not know what could have induced the audience to come to the film so early. Probably they wanted to see something at a level comparable to Spielberg's Jaws. If you, too, are waiting for something like that, I'm afraid to upset you.

The picture is divided into two parts. In the first we are introduced to the course of events, explain that yes, as well as it is as boring and uninteresting as possible. More or less entertains the second half of the film, when the struggle with the shark begins. All the scenes with her are very cool, dynamic, but, in my opinion, there are very few sharks in the film. The film is as passive as possible and begins to stand with the characters. Absolutely all the characters in the film do not cause any sympathy at all. Most characters in general forgot to sketch at least some character traits. Jason Statham plays himself: severe, everyone saves, tries to jestingly joke. At the same time, other heroes are trying to help him in this. For the whole film there were two or three useful jokes and all.

Statham organically looks in some Fast and Furious where he fights, jumps, runs and shoots. Here you get tired of his unchanging facial expression, as if some facial muscle has been pinched. There is a lack of little chemistry between him and a Chinese woman, with whom he suddenly gets into a relationship. Their relationship is so fresh that the tap water in comparison with them will seem like water from a mineral lake.

It is very noticeable how the film tries to curry favor with the Chinese market. Heroes Europeans are dying and all, but the Chinese... They are straight accent. All this looks ridiculous. It seems like a tragedy, the character is dead, but so flat and uninteresting that it's easy to spit. About acting, of course, I generally keep quiet.

Another impression is that they are trying to stretch the timing of the film. On the one hand, nonsense, but the picture goes almost two hours. And on the other hand, two or three minutes are spent on some Chinese wedding on a yacht and a puppy, which even has a small story arc. He first escapes from the hosts at sea, and then tries to swim away from the shark.

Dialogues are very boring. This is a strange claim, but the characters are chatting and chatting, but inside the desire is - well, enough! Rating movie 16 +, it is not clear why. You will not see terrible terrible mass murders. For the whole film, we are shown a torn limb once.

Summarize. The film The Meg is a typical summer blockbuster that is performed poorly. It seems to have looked and forgot, it will go, but if you turn on the brain a little while viewing, a flurry of minuses hits on you: empty characters, bad acting, weak dialogues, boring start, weak humor. Scenes with sharks are cool. It's a pity that they were very few. Western critics have not very warmly met the film - 50% of positive reviews, and my evaluation of the film is basically the same 5 of 10. I will not recommend to view. This is a summer entertaining slabby blockbuster.

Thank you for attention!
