1001 movies before I die: The Docks of New York

in #movies7 years ago

If you saw my post about thee book "1001 movies you must see before you die". You'll know that I am atempting to watch all 1001 movies. This is my review of The Docks of New York (movie #40)

The Docks of New York

Out of all the movies i've watched so far this is probably my favorite. The story isn't very complicated. A man who works on aboat saves a girl from downing and they get married. Very simple but it seems to work for me. Normaly I don't enjoy romatic movies that much. Let's say it wouldn't be my first choice, but there are still some romantic movies I do enjoy and now this is one of them.

Right from the start when I got to this movie in the book I was already intrigued, just from the image they used I knew I would enjoy the look of the movie and that I did. When looking at older movies like this one it's always nice to see different places and how they looked back then. With this movie you get a good look at the New York docks and it's a very nice scene to look at.

This movie is not that long being only 1 hour and 16 min and it doesn't feel long either. Some other movies, with an even shorter runtime have felt long (like The man with the Movie Camera). I'm not very used to silent movie and for me I feel like a movie around the 1 hour 20 minute mark is good for me. Some movies even just 2 hours have felt really long.

Score: 8/10
