John Wick - Chapter 2 Movie Review
The movie starts with John just popping out to pick up his car from when it was stolen in the first film. This involves a car and motorbike chase, lots of shooting and killing bad guys, and finally talking to the boss where they drink a shot of Vodka and make peace. Simples.
John returns home to enjoy his retirement, he is just about to put his feet up and drink a nice wine when a visitor comes calling. It is an old blast from the past Mr Santino D'Antonio, who has a marker and wants to cash it in. John tells Santino that he is sorry but he just retired and was looking forward to his days playing golf and walking his dog. Santino leaves but not before telling John how beautiful his home is.
John can finally put his feet up and start to enjoy slowing down when suddenly his house is blown up and John is ejected out his front window. John just picks himself up and he and his dog walk to the Continental to check in, before making his way to the Art Gallery to have a nice chat with Santino. John gets reminded of how he must do as Santino wishes and by doing so the marker will be fulfilled. John is then told that he must travel to Rome to kill Santino's sister (I know sisters can be annoying but not sure killing them is the appropriate response for them eating your ice-cream).
John travels to Rome to carry out his task (the lifestyle of an international boogieman is certainly a glamorous one), he goes shopping for the usual assassin stuff, bullet proof suits, lots of fancy sexy guns and knives and that one thing every tourist needs the maps of the under ground tunnels in Rome.
John sneaks into a very exclusive party and after having some nice words with Santino's sister he does his job. On his way out the door John is spotted by Cassian and they have a nice chat about their jobs over coffee and some light shooting at each other. John runs away and makes his way back to the under ground tunnels and straight into your classic double cross and predictable shoot out with the bad guys (when will bad guys hire people that can shoot straight and not miss). John finally makes his way back to the Continental in Rome before going to bed for a good nights sleep.
Upon arriving back in America John quickly learns that a BIG contract has been taken out on his head and all the assassins in the city are now hunting for a pay day. After meeting up with some people who want to get paid John seeks help from the Bowery King.
John gets patched up before going to the Art Gallery to have a chat with Santino about blowing up his house, which leads to more bad guys who can't shoot getting killed. Santino, runs scared to the Continental where he thinks he will be safe but John has other ideas.
The film ends with John be given an hour before he is made excommunicado.
We will have to wait for Chapter 3 to see what happens.
