Poetic Television Review: The Knight in White Satin Armor (The Sopranos, S2X12, 2000)

In Jersey's darkened streets, a tale unfolds,
Of Tony Soprano, and his crew of old,
A world of loyalty, and bloody might,
Where honor's code, is a constant fight.

The Knight in White Satin Armor, a episode so fine,
Breaks rules of storytelling, with a narrative divine,
Resolving plotlines, before the final bow,
A move so bold, it sets the stage aglow.

Richie Aprile's plans, to overthrow Tony's throne,
Are foiled by Uncle Junior, who sees him as a clone,
Weak and inept, Richie's fate is sealed and tight,
A twist of fate, that ends his life in the night.

Meanwhile, Tony struggles, with his personal demons too,
Irina's refusal to let go, leads her to attempt anew,
Carmela's jealousy simmers, as she contemplates her past,
And Big Pussy Bonpensiero's dual life begins to forecast.

His mental health frays thin as he navigates the line between two worlds apart
as FBI informant where loyalty wears two faces
A delicate balancing act that starts to lose its art
As erratic behavior signals an impending heart

The episode weaves together threads of real-world strife
Allusions to historical events that cut like a knife
From World Trade Center attacks attributed Egyptian hate
To Yugoslavian dissolution reflected through character’s irate

Through it all The Sopranos stands as testament to groundbreaking art
Innovative storytelling techniques forever leave their mark on television heart.
