Poetic Television Review: Fits Like a Glove (Homicide: Life on the Street, S3X02, 1994)
In streets of darkness, where shadows play,
A tale of crime and death holds sway,
Gritty and raw, a narrative unfolds,
Yet, like a glove, fits poorly, grows old.
A serial killer stalks, with cunning guile,
Leaving clues, a trail to beguile,
The detectives, driven by instinct and pride,
Must navigate the case, with hearts full of pride.
But as they delve deeper, into the night's dark heart,
They find themselves lost, with no clear start,
Gaffney's hubris, a fatal flaw, it seems,
Leading to his downfall, a pitiful scream.
Russert's calm, a mask that hides his pain,
A secret kept, behind a lawyer's veil,
While Pembleton, with Jesuit's gentle hand,
Uncovers the truth, in a world so grand.
Fuchs, an eccentric, with knowledge so rare,
A collector of horrors, with a twisted air,
His alibi, airtight, yet he reveals a clue,
A serial killer, with a history anew.
The episode's threads, a complex tapestry,
Weave together, a story of tragedy,
But as the plot thickens, it loses its way,
Falling into clichés, in a predictable sway.
Yet, in the midst of chaos, a chilling coincidence,
A nod to fate, a twist of design,
Jeffrey Dahmer, a serial killer, so bold,
A symbol of darkness, that the killer's heart doth hold.
Fits Like a Glove, a title so apt,
A tale of crime, that fits poorly, like a glove that's flat,
A story of human flaws, of pride and despair,
A gritty portrayal, that's lost its original air.
