Poetic Television Review: Bust Out (The Sopranos, S2X10, 2000)

In Jersey's shadow, where mobsters roam,
A tale of Tony Soprano, and his anxious home,
The law closes in, with Larry's testimony keen,
A witness steps forward, and Tony's fate is seen.

But like a ghost, the truth disappears from sight,
Larry recants, and Tony's worries take flight,
Euphoric and free, he gifts with generous hand,
And shares a moment with A.J., on their boat so grand.

Meanwhile, Davey Scatino's world begins to crumble down,
Gambling debts mount high, his future wears a frown,
Asset stripping leaves him bare, with nothing to hold tight,
Bankruptcy looms near, and despair takes its toll in the night.

Carmela's heart beats fast, with Musto by her side,
A handsome widower, who sparks a romantic tide,
But when Davey confesses his woes, and Tony's name is told,
Musto turns away, repulsed by the connection so cold.

Richie Aprile seethes with resentment deep inside,
Janice manipulates him still, as their passion does reside,
In an unconventional dance of sex and twisted desire so bold.
Their intimacy holds danger close to its core untold.

"Bust Out" may seem conventional in its narrative stride.
Yet it bridges stories grander than itself. It will subside
Into memory as just another episode in time.
