Poetic Film Review: Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

In Hollywood's realm, where trailers reign,
A tale of Terabithia did remain,
A bridge between two worlds, a dream so fair,
Yet hidden from the eye, a secret to share.

The screen portrayed a spectacle grand,
Of magic and of wonder, in a distant land,
But in the film, a different path was shown,
A prosaic beginning, with a heart of stone.

Jesse, shy and lonely, with a world unknown,
A victim of his classmates, left all alone,
His home, a place of sorrow, of unfulfilled dreams,
His father distant, and his mother's heart it seems.

Then came Leslie, with a spirit bright,
A friend in need, a light in darkest night,
Together they explored, their imaginations free,
In the forest's embrace, a kingdom they'd see.

WETA's magic, a touch of Tolkien's art,
Yet this film was different, a heart it did impart,
Gábor Csupó, a master of his craft,
Weaved a tale of realism, in a world of myth and laugh.

Parents and children, join hand in hand,
For this is not escapism, but a world so grand,
Of love and friendship, of growing up and strife,
A journey through life, a bridge to Terabithia's life.

The cast, a treasure trove of talent so rare,
Robert Patrick, Zooey Deschanel, a pair beyond compare,
The child actors, with hearts so true,
AnnaSophia Robb, a beauty, a dream come through.

Despite the flaws, this film stands tall and proud,
A bridge to Terabithia, a world to be allowed,
A tale of magic, of love, of life and strife,
A journey worth taking, a film worth of life.
