Movie Review: Seven Psychopaths (2012) Very unique experience
Whoa, this movie is one of the hardest movies ı ever had to describe. What just happened did the movie just write itself. Was there any script in the beginning of the shootings?
We can thank Martin McDonagh for this masterpiece because he was the director and writer of this movie. You might remember his name from Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri(2 oscar winner 2017 movie). He also directed and wrote that movie. Big respect for that guy. As actors we got Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson for the main bad guy. Enough with the people lets talk about the movie.
This movie was one of the most unique takes on cinema ı ever saw. It isn't unique because it does have a hard to understand, complicated plot or some ground breaking technology. It shows you that you dont have to rely heavily on traditional storytelling.
We follow Colin Farrell's character Marty, a struggling screenwriter having a creative block about his movie Seven Psychopaths. As he tries to come up with original psychopath characters, we come across some real psychopaths in real life. As real life effects his ideas, his ideas also effects his real life psychopaths in some ways. So what we have is kinda two movies getting intertwined in each other. But we also watch this masterpiece. So as a screenplay named Seven Psychopaths gets effected from seven real psychopaths we also watch a movie called Seven Psychopaths. It kinda felt like Martin McDonagh was writing this movie's script inside of the movie. It was very freaky. Definitely a must see.
And acting. Acting was delicious. Colin Farrell was extremely lovable. Everybody played his psychopath very nice. Especially Woody Harrelson and Christopher Walken was divine. Cool headedness, tones, each character's charisma was just right. Some of the Christopher Walken scenes were so good they became internet memes.
8.5/10
