1] Gerard Butler gained 11 kg weight in a short amount of time for his role as Nicholas O' Brien. In the film Nicholas is shown to be fond of eating. During the crime scene investigation Nicholas eats a donut which was probably stained with blood.
2] It took 14 long years to make this film, Christian Gudgest completed the script in 2003 but the film was eventually finalized in 2017 and released in 2018.
3] The cast of Den of Thieves includes 4 professional MMA fighters, 1 active and 3 retired athletes (John Lewis, Max Holloway, Oleg Taktarov and Michael Bisping).
4] The film also includes 3 singers; Curtis Jackson “50 cent”, Alix Lapri and O'Shea Jackson Jr.
5] The director and producers of the film visited the Federal Reserve Bank for about 3 times in order to get all the related facts and details as accurate as possible during film shooting.
6] In the opening scene of the film it is mentioned that Los Angeles city is the bank robbery capital of the world with 2,400 roberries each year. But according to the FBI bank crime statistics in the year 2003, 1,153 robberies and in 2016, 462 robberies occurred in the state of California. Meanwhile, Los Angeles is just one city in the state of California so the film blew the statistics out of proportion for fiction’s sake!
7] The actors did their own stunts and 50 Cents nearly broke his neck. For character development and physical fitness, a military trainer was hired as a consultant who had special forces training.
