The Vespa is a line of scooters patented April 23, 1946 by the company Piaggio & Co, S.p.A The name of Vespa, which means "wasp" in Italian, was chosen by Enrico Piaggio discovering the prototype of the model. This two-wheeler subsequently became both a symbol of Italian creativity and a commercial success, which continues to this day with 153,000 copies sold in 2011.
