MotoGP/WSBK weekly news

Long time no see!

First of all I want to congratulate all fans of motorcycle racing with the start of the season! World Superbike Championship took off with incredible opener in Phillip Island, Australia! Both races were interesting to watch! I don't want to spoil things, so if you didn't see it yet - I strongly recommend to do it!
I know, that Phillip Island is a special track, and it can't be an indicator for whole season. But I hope, that this year's championship will be like those two races.

Meanwhile in MotoGP.

The main news of this week is all around Tech 3 team. At first they confirmed Hafizh Syahrin for 2018. Who will became first malaysian to compete at this level. And it is good to see new face. Wish him luck.
And then came quite a sensation - Tech 3 team boss Herve Poncharal stated that his team will end its 17th years way with Yamaha at the end of the 2018 season! New manufacturer isn't declared yet but there are rumors that they will join KTM and recieve latest factory bikes. If you take into account Herve's words about a deal, that includes something they’ve been waiting for almost since they started with Tech3 and he couldn’t say no - no one except KTM comes to mind. I think Herve got the upperhand by this move. Now it will be even more interesting to watch how all pieces of 2019 season will fold together.

And back to the Australia.

This news could slip through unnoticed. In the Australian Superbike championship, none other than Troy Baileys himself decided to remember the old days. First event of the 2018 season was held on the same weekend as the World SBK. And 48-year-old triple WSBK champion qualified on the front row! And then he continued to impress - missed the victory in the race one by only .201 seconds. And took solid 5th place in race two! What can I say, the man has a cheerful retirement!

That's all for today! Looking forward to Qatar!
