Day 4 Push it against Sugar

in #motivational8 years ago

Hi again. Hope you challenged yourself yesterday. Here is today's challenge!

Feel free to add this onto yesterday's challenge but most importantly complete the day's challenge.

Fitness Challenge
Wall Push ups. Do 2 sets or 15.

Place hands on wall at chest height and a little wider than shoulder width apart.

Step back from the wall so arms are straight and lean into wall a bit. Come down to nose to wall then push into wall, pushing self back to the starting position. Squeeze your chest muscles as you push against the wall.

Nutrition Challenge
How much sugar are you consuming? You might be consuming more than you think, so today we will become aware of it. On average we consume 20 tsp of sugar a day! Recommendations of 6-9 tsp is what we should be consuming. Sugar is highly addictive and once you become aware of what you are consuming you can start to make better choices and notice it is controlling you. Did you know there is about 19 grams of sugar in some yogurts? And there is sugar in salad dressing, bread, tomato sauce, juice, sodas, granola bars, cereal, syrups, candies, dried fruit, fruit, spreads, cakes, cookies, pies, sauces, milk, and ice cream. Check the food labels for the sugar content. You have a right to know what you are putting in your mouth! Ask if you are ordering out or there is no label.
Organic Maple Syrup has 53 grams in 1/4 cup! Thought it was healthy ;)

Cottage Cheese has 3 grams in 1/2 cup. Not too bad.

Soy milk has 8 grams in 1 cup.

Half and Half for morning coffee, 1 gram in 2 tbsp. Not bad. Good choice to substitute for sugar loaded coffee.

Granola bar has 11 grams in 2 bars/1 package. This one isn't even that bad compared to most!

Once you figure out how much sugar you are having, lets make healthier choices. Reduce your soda by 1 until you cut it out. Chose fruit instead of candy, cake or dessert. Enjoy one bite rather than having the whole thing. Have oatmeal instead of cereal. Are you drinking coffee drinks? Adding sugar? Try an Americano with a touch of cream instead. You body may crave fruit and carbohydrates because you are addicted to sugar. It takes about 21 days to reprogram your body. Once you do, you will have more energy, feel better and notice how sweet and addictive sugar is!
