RE: Why do I Write on Steemit?

in #motivation8 years ago

I am with you, @greenrun. I never considered myself a writer either. A few years ago I found myself jobless and in a desperate need for money, so I applied to like 300 jobs. The only one who would hire me, hired me as a writer. I was very confused, because at the time, I never considered myself to be a writer.

Writing is just thinking out loud on a computer, or a piece of paper.....so thinking is the main key....people don't realize this.
Anyone can be a writer, since we all think.
Now, to choose the right words, without fluff...that is difficult.
The truth is, I would be here writing without rewards too. I did so on Medium for years, no pay. Mixing real money with writing is a like a dream come true, so I am still here, blinking my eyes, making sure this is all still real.

I think you are one of the best writers on this platform, mainly because you have very little ego. I like the way you think. You're not pretending to be someone else. I think if you wrote a book, people would read it.

Sort:

Wow. I'm literally smiling reading this. Wow. Thank you very much. Do you draw too? That's something I couldn't do, even though I wanted to. But I used to draw while little. It's crazy to be given the job of a writer, especially when you have zero experience. How did you cope? I know the first month would be super crazy.

yeah, I draw, make music, videos, collages, basically everything creative...here is a collage I did of myself not too long ago:

The drawing on my neck I did....then I added all the different elements...it's kind of like drawing. i have many drawings I've done over many years...i need to dig them out of my Facebook photo albums.

What do you use in drawing this? Paint or digital painting? Wow. You are multi-talented. It's only my half brother that could draw. I so wish I could draw, because I see images to draw in my mind's eyes. Lol

Well, even though i said I wasn't a writer, it is the truth that I have always written journals and letters to people. When i was a child, i had over 20 penpals from around the world. So, nearly every day I wrote a letter to someone. In truth, I never changed. I am still writing letters to people (in the form of comments on Steemit). I always loved the world, and its people.....so I wrote letters to them.....
I learned while being paid as a writer that i have an innate ability to observe the world and write about it. I am quite introverted, and very happy just observing the world. That is one of my favorite things to do actually: observe and think! Steemit allows all of my passions to coexist, but at my heart, I love expressing myself creatively, and inspiring others to be themselves.

You have twenty penpals?! That must keep you very busy. And I bet they must be from different countries. The postman would recognise your house as the house that has the biggest number of mail inflow.

I had. Only when I was a child did I write to over 20 penpals...yes they were from all over world...most in Italy, Austrialia, UK, Japan, Sweden, France, etc..

Ok. You had. Great times I bet. Those are exciting times. Waiting to see the contents of the envelope is joy personified. People hardly write letters by mail except for official business. Any other non-official one, is to shoot the person an SMS.

I had an uncle who's a professional writer. He likes to always go out and sit a little apart from people while he observes them and writes. It used to appear a bit creepy to me. But now I understand what he is doing. He's just seeking for an inspiration by looking at people and things around him.

I wonder how many catch the skull in the background, and the nature of rebirth that seems to be happening.
