HOW TO STOP CARING WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK…
It is human nature to want to be liked, loved and accepted. However, if you worry too much about the opinion of others, you run the real risk of being held hostage and through fear, never becoming the person you were supposed to be. And nothing scares me more than the thought that something so insignificant can have such a significant impact over someone's life. If you knew you are going to die tomorrow, would you really care what people thought of your decisions today? What if you knew you are gonna die in a week from now, or a month from now, or 10 years, or 50 years? Well you are! So it's time to stop acting like you're gonna live forever.
It is your life, nobody else can tell you what's best for you, and only you will have to deal with the consequences. So make your own decisions. It is impossible to live up to everyone's expectations and in doing so, you'll fail to please the most important person of all. Yourself. And the reality is, people usually don't care as much about you as they might let on.
There's a famous quote that that says we would worry less about what other people think of us if we realize how rarely they do. As humans, we tend to live our life through our own ego and unless something directly impacts us, we don't care about it as much as we pretend to. So it's time to stop caring about what others think, because they probably don't care that much anyway. Once you give up catering to other people's opinions, you'll find your own happiness and discover who you truly are.
The single most powerful idea anyone looking to succeed in anything: sports, career, fitness, finance or life, can embrace is that success does not come from making a few major important decisions correctly. And in fact it's very much the opposite. The truth is success happens when you make the smallest, seemingly easiest, apparently most insignificant decisions correctly, consistently every day, for a long time. Let me give you an example. If you have a burger today, you won't be unhealthy tomorrow. And in the moment, having one burger won't seem to matter. In fact, it doesn't really matter. And if you have a burger every single day this week, you probably still won't be unhealthy. But, in a year's time, after eating a burger every single day, you'll be a burger. And you know, we all make thousands of tiny decisions every single day. And these small decisions seem like they don't matter, but in fact, they are all that matters. And these small decisions compound over time to define who you are right now. And you are, right now, a product of the billions of unimportant tiny decisions you have made in your life. And this idea is called the 'Slight Edge', and right now, when it comes to your health, finances, career, everything, the 'Slight Edge' is either working for you or against you. And you'll find out in a year. And although it sounds simple to take control of these of these small, easy decisions, the reality is, things that are easy to do, are also very easy not to do. If you genuinely want to improve and you're not just kidding yourself as we all do, and if you want it bad enough, then start right now. Today.
