I Feel Like Quitting

"I've been through a whole lot of challenges beyond what words can express.
I've been battered, bruised, broken, torn, disappointed.

Friends and family i thought would be there for me slammed the door on me without blinking an eye 😳😳😳
I've just been rejected again. Oh goodness Lord, not again! 💔💔💔💔
It's like I'll break under the pressure of this weight I'm carrying.
You can't understand how i feel except you walk or have walked in my shoes."

These statements and more are typical of one going through a lot of stuff. While I wouldn't say I understand perfectly how you feel cos i might not have walked in your shoes, i'd say i've also been through some rough bends, steeps here and there and having to descend cliffs sometimes.

The road to greatness is never smooth.

You might be going through a whole lot of stuff right now and you feel like crashing under the weight of the burden you carry, this is just for you.

I was in your shoes just last week. I had to send this message to a husbie.

You feel like quitting?

You think you've made up your mind to quit, but it's a feeling. That feeling is there cos some things have either not worked as planned or those things turned out to be stack opposites of your plans. Damn! That can be painful, really very painful.

Feelings are fleeting.

That feeling of quitting is transient. It won't last forever. Haven't there been a time you felt weak and then you got an alert that shook your bank account, a good news, saw a result, watched a movie; and you couldn't even remember the weakness in your body?

Last week, i felt drained by a disappointing news. That resulted in the chat you read above. I felt like running away cos I felt I couldn't withstand another disappointment, but here i am, still standing. That feeling of running away is all gone now.

I remember the drama i did while in labour. I felt i was going to pass out under the excruciating pain of those contractions and I remember telling husbie as he stared helplessly at me "don't let me die; i don't want to die". I remember how he wished he could bear the pains for me.

Mother and baby (who turned 7 months on Monday )are doing fine.

You see, i felt i'd die but i didn't die 🤣🤣. The same way you feel like quitting but you aren't made to quit.

Quitting isn't what you're wired for; you're made to go through and go through victorious like the champion that you are.

When you feel like quitting, tell yourself:

I'm only going through.
This too will pass.

Don't make life decisions based on feelings because feelings don't last.

Imagine i threw in the towel last week cos of how i felt, would i be here to cheer you on today?

Encourage yourself.

Truth is, there are things you're meant to endure and bear alone e.g labour pains, studying hard to pass an exam, eating, etc.

When you're faced with a challenge, your last option shouldn't be to quit. Hang in there even when there is no one to cheer you on.

Be your own cheerleader

Get a support system

There are burdens you aren't meant to bear alone cos you have burden bearers around you. Seek help from the right sources.

I made a recourse to @idowu-kunlere in the screenshot above when i felt too weak within to face life. My girlfriend and soon-to-be steemian has been a support base. And the support from my family has been mind-blowing.

To have a support system to lean on, cultivate relationships.

You don't want to be alone when a company would make the burden lighter.

Having someone to talk to might be all you need. To have the ears of those that matter when you need it, cultivate the relationships in your life.

As i wrap up, don't forget these 4 things:

  1. Your feelings are fleeting.
  2. Don't make a life decision based on mere feelings.
  3. Encourage yourself
  4. Build a support system.

Also, remember that Quitting isn't what you're made for.

Quitters never win; Winners never quit.

I am @evashinen, your steemit cheerleader.

I quite agree with you @ashley4u. Hope keeps us going.
We cannot rule out the God-factor. Our hope is premised on him.
