Kingdoms of Ochre and Azure

in #moroccoyesterday

O Morocco! Land where the Atlas rends the clouds,
Its silvered slopes drinking the rainbowed dawn;
In deep ravines, wild waterfalls enshroud
Winter crystallized in tears of prismed fawn.

In Marrakech, the Square throbs like a living core:
Fiery spices, storytellers' ember-voices,
Shops collapsing under moon's silver store
Where lanterns twirl their Maltese dances' choices.

Fez the Holy, Quran-city of minarets tall,
Its tanneries ancient as dynasties' reign:
Vats of purple and indigo, perfumed leather's call,
Sacred geometries weaving time's endless chain.

In the South, M'Hamid sees tawny dunes arise,
Caravans tracing their ephemeral trails;
Ochre ksars, guardians of past alcoves' guise,
Shelter 'neath vaults the nomads' wind-swept tales.

Tangier the White, sentinel of the strait,
Where Atlantic weds the Mediterranean blue;
In its azure alleys, echoes resonate
With mingled ghosts of Africa and Iberia too.

Beneath the sky, January's almond bloom
Dusts with pink snow the Ziz valley's embrace;
Mint tea hour—final path through time's gloom
Where moments pause. O boundless realm of grace. !
