"Above the Pines"

I am what you would call a "moon child." As far back as I can remember I've always been fascinated by the moon, searching for it nightly in the sky like a child looking for his or her security blanket at bedime, verifying it still was there and finding comfort after confirmation.

I still remember these lyrics, permanently etched in my mind from my childhood:

"I see the moon, the moon sees me;
The moon sees somebody I want to see.
God bless the moon and God bless me,

I followed the moon and the moon followed me throughout grade school, high school and then college. When I graduated from college, I even applied to NASA - you know, to get closer to the moon! Nothing materialized from that effort - at least I tried.😀

"Illuminated"

As I matured, I went from enthusiastically saying "Hey! Look at the moon!" to pulling out my camera [and later cellphone] to capture images of the moon. Obsessively. Compulsively. If someone browsed through my cellphone he or she would find more lunar images than any other subject matter. It's that bad!🌗📸🌒

"Subtle"

This best explains how I feel about the moon, and how I like to think people perceive me, the moon child.

"Everyone wants to be the sun that lights up your life. But I'd rather be your moon, so I can shine on you during your darkest hour when your sun isn't around."
