The steam locomotive FD21-3031 is a locomotive - a "front-line soldier" in the full sense of the word. It was built in 1941, installed in 1987, in memory of the fighting and labor heroism of the Tyumen railway workers during the war and in honor of the 100th anniversary of the locomotive depot.

"Felix Dzerzhinsky" - the Soviet main cargo locomotive produced by the Lugansk locomotive plant from 1931 to 1941. The design and construction of the first locomotive of this series took a record short time - only 170 days. For ten years, was built 3213 cars. It was one of the most powerful Soviet serial locomotives and had among them the highest traction force.

The diameter of the driving wheels is 1.5 meters. The design speed is 85 km / h. The weight of the locomotive is 134 tons.

The steam engines of the "FD" series became legendary - they went through the whole war, they regularly served after, in peacetime. On such a locomotive in 1941, Lenin's body was sent from Moscow to Tyumen for preservation.

This locomotive appeared in the Tyumen depot in the autumn of 1941. He was under artillery fire and bombed, he was driven from the October Railway. Tender, the lining on the boiler is punched with bullets, splinters, holes are hastily welded. In the shortest time, the locomotive was repaired and put into operation, now it was to fight in the rear.

In 1959 the first diesel locomotives replaced the locomotives in the Tyumen branch of the railway. The steam engines were conserved and sent to the reserve to the Ministry of Defense. In 1987 was the anniversary of the Tyumen depot, and someone from the machinists-veterans remembered the "FD", proposed to find it and establish it as a monument, in memory of those who once drove the train and which already may not be alive .
