Monochrome Daisies – Crypto Frustration – A Lesson In Patience
JUST ANOTHER MANIC , ER..... MONOCHROME MONDAY!
It started out as a very pleasant Monday with coffee on the patio on a beautiful Florida spring morning. Who could ask for more?
And then it happened! I was reminded once again of my frustration at trying to get actual real cash out of crypto! Two weeks ago after transferring STEEM to ETH, I successfully signed up for Kraken's Tier 1 and Tier 2, but because I am a US resident I also had to sign up for Tier 3. So I dutifully scanned my driver's license, downloaded a copy of my online banking statement, and took a selfie holding my driver's license and a piece of paper with some information, my signature and the date written on it!
Fast forward to today! I received an email from Kraken informing me that there was a problem – not just with one piece of my ID, but with all three! ALL THREE!
They didn't like the scanned image of my driver's license because the resolution was not high enough - fuzzy when they enlarged it! It looked fine on my monitor before I sent it, but that's another story! I wonder just how much they need to blow it up! They said they didn't like it on a white background, so asked me to photograph it full frame on a black background!
There was a problem with my proof of address documentation, they said. They asked for a utility bill, a bank or credit card statement showing my full name as on my driver's license! Therein lies the problem! First of all, the utility bills are in my husband's name. So that was ruled out! I hold three credit cards, but not one lists my full name (which would include my maiden name which I use as a middle name.) So I had to rule out my credit card statements! My only hope was my online bank statement, which does happen to list my middle name. But it wasn't good enough for them, because the bank's physical address is not on the statement! Well, it's an online statement! We don't get paper ones anymore. And our bank simply lists its name on the online statement!
If that was not enough, they didn't like the fact that my photo was sideways after it was uploaded and said it had to be the right way up! It was the right way up on my monitor! Something in their uploading software turned it sideways!
So began my Manic Monday. I photographed my driver's license full-frame on a black background. I searched through every piece of mail from the last couple of months in the hopes of finding something that included my middle name. Luckily, I found a letter from the insurance company that holds a small annuity I hold. Bingo! My middle name is on the letter. Surely this will satisfy them! Next I got my husband to take another photograph of me holding my license and holding a piece of paper with the required information written on it.
So far, so good!
The instructions in the email told me to “upload the files on the Account - > Get Verified - > Tier 3.” Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong! I am unable to upload anything, because it tells me that tier 3 is “processing.”

So, what have the flowers got to do with all this? I had to get out of the house, as I was so wound up I thought I might self destruct. I ran a few errands and came across these flowers at the grocery store. The beauty of them reminded me that I have a lot to be grateful for. I live in a beautiful place, I have a God who loves me, I have a loving husband, two great sons and a couple of gorgeous grand-kitties! I even have a little crypto riding the waves on the Internet to be thankful for. So what if it takes me a little longer to get some cash out of the exchange? I'm not in a rush for it. It will happen soon enough, and next time I won't have to deal with this frustration!
All is well in God's world. He knows what He is doing! In fact, I believe He is teaching me patience!

be well
Yes, He makes no mistakes!!😊
Have you ever tried pulling your hair out I believe that's the saying. Just joking. Well life seems to dish those moments up and they can be frustrating and testing, patience and self control.
But remember we are imperfect so if you pull a little hair out it's OK, the only problem with me is i don't have a lot left, oh well i can take it from my legs. Why do you think the Apostle Paul said miserable man that i am? and he didn't have the technology we have now.
Pulling my hair out, was definitely an option! Yes, technology has advanced at an alarming pace. I remember as a little child in the early fifties being in awe of the television set in the window of a cafe in my hometown in Scotland. I distinctly remember thinking very hard about the technology involved, and then thinking that everything that could be invented had been invented. today's younger generation have never lived without handheld devices. I bet they just can't imagine a world without them!
All of the exchanges have been behind with their approvals. But I hadn’t heard kraken was getting picky with verification. They used to be very easy to deal with. Nice photo.
Thanks! :-) Definitely picky! LOL! I mean it takes a split second to turn a photo the right way up if it got turned! And they should easily have been able to read the details of my license on their monitors if I can read it on mine! They had my bank account # on the statement , and a whole lot of details that's none of their business too!
That sounds really frustrating but so glad you were able to see beyond it and get back in touch with what really matters.
The flowers are very unusual. Great find and photograph.
Hope everything goes smoothly for you now with your crypto exchange. 😊
Thanks for the kind words. I should not have spent so much time trying to get the information together today. If they don't fix my page online, I will have to re-shoot the photo with the date I'm unloading it on the paper. Oh, well!
I had a similar situation, not with crypto, but no matter what document I sent there was some issue with it. I gave up in the end and went a different route. I spent a week trying to sort it out. Even support couldn't work out why it kept being rejected. Bonkers!
I've never traded crypto so have not had to deal with that yet.
Hopefully you'll get it sorted soon and once it's done it's done! 😊
I have a long story about ID that is even more frustrating than this one. A post about it has been on the back burner for a while! It's annoying when you just spin your wheels and nobody really helps. LOL!
Great shot and post @dmcamera!!
Go #teamcanada
Thanks very much! Canadian, eh?🇨🇦
Oh yes, Manic Monday indeed! I've had days like that! I've never tried to cash out steem or crypto, but my son knows all of the steps because he has done it! My problem is now my credit card won't let me buy crypto any longer on Coinbase...No, no, that is not just a purchase - it's should be treated as a cash advance...according to Visa!! So I am in the process of trying to give Coinbase my ID, etc. but it wanted me to take a selfie on their APP, but it wouldn't work! Sigh, I got so upset about it the other day, I just decided to put it off for a week or so. Coinbase will let me link my debit card or bank account, but then my bank wants verification it's me trying to do it...
What a wonderful (crypto) world. LOL! My son pretty much knows all the ins and outs too. But he had signed up with the exchanges a year ago. I couldn't get further than entering my phone # with Coinbase. Each time I tried to go any further they would ask for my phone number, so I would enter my phone number and would get the response that I didn't need to enter it as it has already been entered. I'm in an endless loop! Those who do the coding for these places need to learn a lesson or two about being user friendly!
I haven't tried to buy coins. The ones that I have were gifts from my two sons to get me started! But that is such a carry on with the credit cards! Good idea to cool off a bit first, as it can get very frustrating! walking away from it today was the best thing I did!
Yes, and guess what, my husband and I are both programmers and some of these problems with websites and APPs we just don't see why the programmers aren't on top of the problems trying to make things easier for the users! Also we wonder if they did any testing...I'm not in the programming world any longer, but I know my company and all of the companies my husband has worked for, test things extensively before they release their products out into the world!
Haha. That is one of my former careers too. I programmed in COBOL! I always look at the computer logic in a situation and imagine drawing all the diagrams. I wonder if they even study computer logic anymore!! My husband was also a programmer and then a systems analyst. You are right. Everything was very well tested.
what a manic day indeed I hope it works OK for you now
but i have to say I have the song by the Bangles Manic Monday in my head today
Me too! It wouldn't go away. LOL! I placed a ticket o let them know that I can't upload until they clear the "processing" field!
hope you get it all sorted
I will look later to see if they have cleared that field to make it possible for me to enter the data again. Taking it easy for now!
ZFingers crossed for you good luck
Ai-yi-yi. Sounds like a real hassle. But I am very glad you found your calm. Those are some beautiful flowers, Diane:)
Thanks! Yes, there are bigger things people have to worry about. It wasn't worth the effort I took yesterday to try to right it, because it didn’t work anyway!
Hopefully. it will come right soon:)
Ah man, the hassles of getting verified are always annoying! I just signed up to a new exchange and made a typo with my name which means I need a 7 day review period! Mental! Anyway lovely shot, following :)
Thanks for the Follow. I’m just going to wait it out. I miss the old days when you could just pick up a phone and sort things out! Technology has got in the way of doing that with a lot of companies these days. You have to love it and hate it at the same time!!
