Blind curve under railroad. Barely wide enough for two cars. What lies around the corner?

I find this interesting because this type of underpass was common when I was growing up. Most dangerous underpasses like this have been replaced over the years. Also interesting as photo - gateway into the light...

I am always afraid of such blind turns, even if there is a place for two lanes of vehicles. We also can sometimes find something similar in our urban suburbs.
