Earnings Estimates by Thomson Reuters or Anyone Else

in #money8 years ago

"Nordstrom reported earnings of 43 cents adjusted on revenue of $3.35 billion. Analysts were expecting the company to post earnings of 27 cents on sales of $3.34 billion, according to Thomson Reuters consensus estimates."

This is the kind of garbage you get from CNBC and Fox Business. Thomson Reuters consensus estimates don't mean a thing! The important number is sales growth. That is the number that can't be (less likely) to be lied about. When you see Thomson Reuters consensus estimates, what does it mean?

Years ago I used to cut earnings reports out of the Wall Street Journal and paste them in a notebook. I was interested in earnings and sales growth year over year! Now you don't have a clue what is being reported! What do Thomson Reuters consensus estimates mean?

Let's get back to numbers that mean something!
