Automatization - Why Is Everyone Afraid That Robots Take Our Jobs? - We Can Benefit From It If We Change Our Mindset!

in #money7 years ago

Many are worried about the loss of jobs caused by robots and other forms of automatization. New technologies will make certain professions obsolete over time. I think this is a good thing, after all more goods and services will be created while we need to input way less effort. I think the technology is not the threat we are facing, but the current system and our mindset.

Robots will take our jobs…

Good! then we don’t have to do all the work!

With Robots, blockchain and AI, we will produce more with less work

Technological innovation is going exponential and the world is changing fast. Robots will replace a big part of the manual jobs, blockchain will replace trusted 3rd parties and AI will make computers smarter than most of the people. Many of the current jobs will be replaced by computers and robots and many professions will eventually disappear.

As always, free market will take care of a smooth transition

We will go through a transition from being productive ourself to managing devices that produce for us. This is freaking many people out, but I think it is great. It means that we still have the same (actually more) productivity without the need to work a lot.

The reason that it freaks everybody out is that we are so used to the socialist system that we think we are not able to adjust our own life to the new situation. The socialist mindset let us believe that we have the right to make money in the profession we learned and the government is responsible to serve this right to us. Nobody is questioning anymore if it is sustainable.

The majority of the people will apply for social security when their job disappears and feel like they are victim of the automatization. It will never come to their mind that they can search for another job or create something where is demand for in another way. Most of them will not realize that they are victims of the current system and not of the automatization.

Automatization in a socialist society VS free market environment

Here an example what will happen when robots replace all the workers in a certain industry in a socialist society VS a free economy:

Note that the transition in a socialist society will go faster, because minimum wages will keep the salary high, so it is more rewarding to replace workers with a robot. Furthermore, other industries will be sucked in this negative spiral because the tax pressure increases. This also creates the situation that the entire country becomes less competitive to the rest of the world and jobs will also move abroad.

My prediction for the future

I think new innovation will will create more wealth overall. Counties that have a free economy will flourish and socialist counties will suffer. When the transition is done properly we will see a lot of extra wealth being created while the working pressure will decrease. However, the current system is not ready for this and the negative results will probably overshadow.

The challenge

I think the challenge is to make a smooth transitioning whereby as many as possible people can benefit. People should drop their socialist mindset and create a plan B by educating themselves and learning additional skills instead of counting on the government.

Also internationally governments and the banking system should be dismantled. Drones and other machines could greatly increase the global food production, but if governments charge huge import taxes and banks remain to exclude these people from their services they will never be able to do so. Happily Bitcoin can include them in the global financial system, but govs will remain to be a problem.

Invest and educate yourself beside your job

It is important to have a plan B. When your profession is being automated you don’t want to be the last to leave. Try to learn additional skills that enable you to deliver products or services to other people. Another way to ensure your wellbeing is to hedge yourself by investing in the disrupting technologies (own a robot or robotic stocks, when it comes so far that they take over the entire industry, the value will skyrocket). Drop your socialist mentality immediately and take action before you need to, and it will be way easier!

i'd rather be proactive than being reactive, wake up! the world is constantly changing, without change we wont survive.

as you said plan B is must in that situation
i can still remember when hand made carpets were replaced by automated carpet industry
here, some people really suffered while others used that as an opportunity
that is why additional skills are neccessary as you said

Yes as technology advances the lifespan of jobs will decrease. This means that having a plan B becomes more important over time. I think the future for socialists who rely on the government is not very bright, the system probably can't handle it over the long term.

Yes, We need to invest and educate ourself beside our job

Lifelong learning is an important thing to stay relevant forever.

Yeah i agree with you. Investing is important and we need to invest and educate ourself beside our job.

I agree with you on the points that you have raised.

I like this point,

"Try to learn additional skills that enable you to deliver products or services to other people. Another way to ensure your well-being is to hedge yourself by investing in the disrupting technologies..'

Even if technology doesn't replace you on your job, the best thing to do in this century and in the century to come is to use knowledge to your advantage. It is important to upgrade your knowledge everyday.

Knowledge gets outdated so fast now that you can't afford to not keep up with the changing world.

Thank you for sharing this, @michiel

Technology benefits us It does not hurt us

It does both.

The wise takes advantage, the foolish is at a disadvantage.

Technology serves you to the point that you are able to manipulate it to your advantage. That's why lifelong learning is very important.

It's the guy who owns the robot that profits. Not everybody. Same old story.

Yes, that is true, so my message is that everyone should focus on ways to become an owner instead of working till your job disappears. I know this is not easy, some people don't have money to invest, but the opportunities to earn money for anyone in the world are bigger than ever through the internet and Bitcoin (Steemit is an example, but learn about SEO, trading, blogging ect, is also an option, self-education is free online). Since robots soon will be tokenized, you will be able to buy a tiny part and accumulate over time.

Yes I totally agree with your opinion that robot will help us. We can get enormous benefits from the robots. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
