Asian inspired creative photo session learning to be a photographer and model

in #modeling7 years ago

I wanted to create another creative photo session. The idea was Asian inspired... again at this time, I was very limited as to what to find for putting together a creative shoot. I did my best to create something beautiful with the resources available to me. At this time in my life, I became single, and had to learn photography myself to continue my pursuit in creating beautiful images. My photographer husband and I had separated. He had photographed me prior in all my creative photo sessions. Despite the separation, I felt a strong desire within me to learn photography. I was also very new to editing images... hence some of the sepia inspired colors in some of the photos. Not knowing much about lighting at the time, I used mostly natural light available. I believe there is only one image which flash was used. I put three Asian inspired pieces together to create a variety of images from the session. I sought out a location a week prior, but by the time I was able to do the session, most of the fall leaves had fallen.. Still the colors from the pieces I wore became the center of attention of the photo session. I loved how I was able to create two very different "looks" in the session. Simple but beautiful!

This first piece I put together to wear for the beginning of the photo session was very form fitting. I thought a lot about how does one form your body to accentuate the slim fitting piece as well as convey a little of the Asian culture in posing your arms, tilting your head slightly, and moving your body in simple ways to convey the piece I was wearing.

The second part of the photo session I wanted to use movement to convey the Asian culture in my movements of my body. I used fans to create beauty in my movements. The colors popped in the piece I wore and went well with the bare trees in the background.

The third set of images is my final look for the photo session. I created a different look with my hair, and changed into a slim fitting Asian inspired dress.
