IS CELL PHONE HARMFUL???
Nowadays cell phones has become the most important thing in our daily life and almost people of all ages has been using it and has narrowed the world. Cell phones provides an efficient and easy way to communicate but it has got a remarkable effect on health.
But is cell phone really safe??
Cell phones uses electromagnetic radiation (EMR) of 450-2100 MHz that lies in microwave range. EMR doesn’t have enough energy to damage DNA or heat the parenchymal body tissue and has been enlisted as “possible carcinogenic to human” as 6o% of the radiation gets absorbed by the brain, skin, tissues and bones. The radiation alters the electrical activity of the brain and cause adverse effect in the brain parenchyma. The radiation gets strong in the area where the signal is weak as the phone attempts to connect to a new relay antenna. Besides this high frequency cell phones also increases stress level and disturb the normal sleeping patterns.
The radiation is not only the problem. Prolong use of the cell phone also increase the risk of pain and inflammation to the wrist joint as it uses constant use of hands esp. while responding to the text and emails rapidly. It also causes arch in the neck when used for a long period of time. Staring at the phone for longer duration can also cause vision problems due to continuous squinting of eye. The use of phones also increases the risk of illness as instant touching the phone harbors germs and after days use it contains more germs than those found on a toilet seat.
These are the problems that arises due to the phone use but people are not aware. There are certain ways to limit the adverse effects as discontinuous of the phone is not possible and particle.
The length of the calls should be limited and the cell phones shouldn’t be brought close to the ear until the correspondent answers as the phone communicates at its full power while connecting to a number. It is the better to avoid carrying the cell phones directly on the body. The cell phones should be used at the place where the signal is strong and its use in the basement, underground station, and elevator should be avoided as the radiation increases 1000 folds in the area where the signal is poor.
Air tube handset should be used as it is the safest way of increasing the distance between the head and phone. The headset comprises of part wired cable and part air tube. Part air tube converts electrical signals into harmless air waves. It is based on the principle that, “signal strength falls off in proportion to the square of the distance to the source.” It is better than the Bluetooth handset. Speaker phone mode is also the option.
The adverse effects of the phones are not seen instantly but takes a long period of time for the symptoms to appear. So the presentive measures has to be taken after all HEALTH IS WEALTH.
