The Other Side #61 Time for action

It’s February and time to make plans for the rest of the year, and the rest of your life. Filing will open up at the end of this month for every house seat in both the Congress and the Missouri legislature. Every county in the state will elect office holders, from commissioners to prosecutors and county political party central committees will elect one man and one woman from each township. Filing opens February 27 and runs until March 27. For State and Federal races you must file at the Secretary of States office, in Jefferson City. For county races you can file at your local County Clerks office in your county court house. You will be filing for the August 7th primary and you must declare a party or independence. If you want to run for central committee, you will be elected on the primary date, for these are party positions and the primary is a party election. Now is the time to make your decision. Are you going to stand by and complain or do something about it. I know the right wing has made government out to be a bad thing, but it is our thing, and life is short. If you don’t fight for change now, you wont have another chance for two more years. We live in the richest country in the world yet children are hungry, people are dying for lack of healthcare. Our current officeholders are destroying our way of life, polluting our air, making us work for slave wages, allowing us to be ripped off by any business that wants to, giving all the money to the upper 1%, strapping our children with enormous debt for their education, denying people healthcare, betraying our veterans, and on and on. Governor Greitens is cutting higher education, home healthcare for sick seniors, corrections, national guard, and economic development. State revenues are down, and he is cutting taxes for the rich. Do you know that we spend 50% more on corporate welfare than we do on welfare for the poor? Other countries are living far better than we are. Their children are healthier, happier, live longer, get free education and free healthcare, while we only allow those luxuries for the rich. Are you going to allow that to continue? Do something about it, run for office, join the party and help a good person win. Now is the time, you can’t wait, your country needs you now.
