RE: I lost my posting key for about 30 minutes…Its recovered now.
Ugh! Such a horrible feeling! @mirrors, if you notice any other unusual activity, I'm calling over @simplymike. As I'm sure you know, she was at one time hacked, and knows exactly what to do!
I quickly changed my Master key, and i see all the keys, including the posting key changed. I have just reached my place, and now sitting down on my PC.
I have to say i was lucky to come in before as much damage was inflicted (so much for checking in frequently).
But you know the really fortunate part is that, until about 3 days ago, i was using my Master Key for posting.....so much for the conviction that i was careful enough, and given i just about always use my PC, the chances i would mis-use my key were few...
But then, following a post about the same by @wolfhart some time last week - the umpteenth time i was reading about the need not to use your master key - i finally decided to get and start using my 'posting key'....instead of the 'master key'...and pfoooo...today i actually lose it.
I can't imagine if that had been the 'master key"...so the change was timely, fortunate for me.
Also i think the time-lag between the thief getting it and me discovering must have been very short as i had only been on my blog a short-while before, only to check in 20 or 30 minutes later on my mobile phone and noticing a strange activity...
Oh, I'm so glad! Lesson learned I guess then :) It's funny how we seem to just let things slide, but something told you to act. Thanks @wolfhart for the push!
I am so glad that after
Everything that can be done with a stolen posting key can be fixed . not with an Owners key unfortunately .
It is so nice to here where a stolen account turns out where the owner did not loose everthing
keep preaching because it will have to take hearing many many times for it to be effective
is that a couple gray hairs I see there , maybe :)
