Methods That Can Take Care of Your Nervousness and Anxiety… Part #1

in #mindset6 years ago

Hi, Steemians!

If you are only starting to take steps towards achieving your goals and visions, you may be dealing with a whole lot of anxiety and nervousness upon connecting with other people.

This is normal because the courtesies of connecting with other people and the delicacies involved in the whole matter are difficult to master.

This is really important because nervousness can come off as inadequacy or worse, incompetence to those who have not dealt with amateurs.

In this blog post, I am going to teach you a method that will take care of your nervousness.

The thing about nervousness is that it hardly buys sympathy from other people. Most people just assume that you are incompetent in what you are trying to accomplish.

That is why nervousness and anxiety are terrible foes for any entrepreneur or dreamer.

In these articles, I will introduce and examine methods that can make it easier if you are a person who struggles with nervousness and anxiety in social circumstances.

The first and the most obvious method is preparation.

If you are someone who is suffering from social anxiety and nervousness, make a note of always being prepared for things that might go wrong when you are conducting social interactions.

For example, if you have a job interview or an important business meeting, be prepared for anything that might come up. Prepare answers and practice them so that you are able to deliver them with nonchalance.

If you are meeting with someone you need to impress, try to think about intriguing topics that could be of mutual interest to you both.

Then bring them up at the right moment and get the flow of the conversation going.

Next comes logical assessment. When you are nervous, one of the causes is that you are not entirely sure about what you are dealing with and how you should approach it.

If you want to calm yourself, ask a simple question: What is the worst thing that could happen in that situation?

When you really think about the entirety of social interactions, you realize that your worst perceived nightmares are nothing but illusory.

Yes, things may go wrong. Conversations may drift away from the main purpose. But nothing disastrous is going to happen.

It is not like the world is going to end, is it?

But in our minds, and before any logical assessments, we think that the end of the world is also a possibility when we want to talk to someone or have a meeting with them.

It takes a great deal of courage and bravery to face your nervousness and anxiety.

It is not as easy as, say laziness, when it comes to confrontation.

Anxiety is the very affliction that kills people’s courage.

For now, practice these two methods on a daily basis; be more prepared and logically assess the worst thing that could happen.

When that is out of the window, the rest is going to be surprisingly easy.

Let us fight the demon of anxiety together!

A BIG HUG!!!

Hello,
Yes indeed, nervousness and anxiety can be a big problem for many people.
We have to realize, the people with who we have to talk are as well only humans like ourselves, not more.
Whether they are rich, politicians, your boss or an interview partner, all are only humans, we don't have to fear anything to talk with them, making a good plan for the conversation can be very helpful as well as an imagination about it before.
Meditation can also be a good way to free us from our nervousness and anxiety.
Have a wonderful day
Tom

As an introvert, I can relate and agree that these are great steps to take in preparing for those interactions. I would also add to plan small breaks in between if overloaded in many interactions. Try to go to a restroom or a private area to gather yourself in between them to help as well. Thanks for sharing!

Hello! I just wanna say thank you so much for this post. I have been feeling anxiety lately. It mainly involves my career decisions. It's been a struggle to keep pushing on and be courageous to face life moving forward, as job hunting is not as easy as it gets. Your post is a good reminder to be brave in times of anxiety. Glad that I bumped into this post after my more than 1 year of hiatus in here. Cheers! :)

@chbartist nerveness and anxiety all is due to different thinking 💭 angles. Daily starting from home door to desired people and working with them is a big deal of our routine life that resulted as vastness in experience.
The art of dealing other doen't come with your birth. If you are well educated and organised but don't have much public interaction then you are always in trouble and take a long period to get solutions for you problems. In other words a little scoundrelism could be proof a big worth some time
