Trips and tips : Milano, the capital of fashion & food - #triptoitalypart2
Hello again my dear steemians,
Milano was the second destination me&my partner decided to visit and we were indeed impressed.
The city itself is very busy and so are the restaurants. We tried to eat local as much as possible and stay far away from the tourist trap places. Booking them is much better, especially for dinner.
In my opinion, Piazza del Duomo is the most impressive area. We didn't enter the Cathedral because the queue was quite long and the cold was unbearable. But from the outside it looked like a thrilling piece of architecture.
Beside that, the place is full of shops and cafés. Allow yourself some time to visit the Rinascente, which is in fact the most famous shopping-centre in town! I found it very compact, all brands having an up-date, full collection.
On the roof there are two nice restaurants where you can eat. We went for MAIO as it got the famous Risotto Milanese(with cheese, my guilty pleasure). We shared an amazing entrée ( foi gras & shrimps), then we had a delicious risotto and a lovely Cappuccino on the terrasse of the restaurant facing the Duomo for a fair amount of money regarding the location.
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is also a famous place it's worth visiting. Here you can also find cafés and shops.
Another place in town we liked was Milano Navigli, an artificial canal similar to those in Amsterdam. We went there in the afternoon, had lunch at a local place and started walking around at the sun set. I truely thought I was living a dream. The place itself was magic with all those Christmas lights, the reflection of them on the water and the restaurants facing the canal. The place has also many art galleries and boutiques; it's worth visiting it.
While looking for a place to eat, I found this interesting article about some popular restaurants in the area : https://theculturetrip.com/europe/italy/articles/the-10-best-restaurants-in-navigli-milan/
Milano was all about food in the end and we enjoyed our time there. I'll especially recommend this pasta place close to Piazza Lima, called Platina ' Immagina la Pasta'. The have a big variety of pasta and the service is very good !
As well as this cocktail bar called Portobello near Via Corso Buenos Aires.
What about you guys ? Did you visit Milano ? What are your thoughts about it ?
Thanks for reading :)
Love,
V.
