Untalented 1.0: Unveiling One’s Self

What if one opportunity could change your life? We need to see life as unfolding set of oppotunities awaken. Grab every opportunity you have ‘cause you know it doesn’t knock twice. Just like what I’m doing now I grabbed this chance to be part of this diverse community hoping that unveiling one’s self, could create new profound relationship with dynamic people here on Steemit.

I am thrilled to be part of this community. I cant wait to share my thougths and ideas about anything. I just want to thank @levinvillas and @janenarzoles1 for pushing me and really encouraged me to sign up and join ‘cause to be honest I’m not a person who is fond of reading and writing but changes means progress, no great things came from comfort zones and if we allow ourselves for changes that simply means we’re stronger. Seize every moment with new things new opportunities because in the end we regret those chances we didn’t take.

Hi fellow steemians! My name is Ray Louise Quimpang! Yeah I know it’s quite long but you can always call me “Miko” for short and that’s my nickname. You might be wondering why it’s Miko. So might as well I’ll tell you why, It came from my mom’s nickname which is Mikmik. And my mom’s name is Noemi Quimpang and I’m not quite sure where my mom’s nickname came from.

I am 25 years young. A proud Filipino, I live in the country which is known to have beautiful tourist spots like perfect coned volcanos, white beaches, beautiful islands, caves, mountains mostly scenic view of nature. Thats why it’s more fun in the Philippines.

I’m the 3rd of the 7 children of Ray and Noemi Quimpang. Here’s my family picture with my dad that is now in heaven with God.

I’m a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

I dream to be a Pâtisserie or pastry chef in a big restaurant or hotel. It is my great passion to create artistic cakes. My passion for creating fondant cakes started when my friend encouraged me to join a fondant cake contest and whoever will be qualified will represent our school in a prestigious and biggest culinary show in Mindanao which is called “Kumbira” which means Feast or Banquet and yes we we’re chosen to be the representative of our school and Luckily with hardwork and determination, we won 3rd place. Since then it became my hobby to create artistic cakes.

This was my first ever fondant cake and if you zoom in it still has thumb marks because at that time, me and my partner nikki wasn’t yet trained by any professional decorator.

After graduation I started to build my own homebased cake business which is called Toycakes. I was really overwhelmed on how it turned out. I got good commendations from friends and people I dont know.

I may have sleepless nights doing it since I only have my sister to help me out in doing everything. But when you love what you’re doing you just don’t really care about those sleepless nights

Aside from Cake decorating, on my spare time. I’m also a frustrated stylist/ fashion enthusiast and a make up artist. Thanks to Google and Youtube my ideas became creations. I like to wear something extra. Extra means I wanted to be different. I wanted to standout. My passion for fashion is not just for myself because I also like to style people. Its also my joy seeing them wear what best suits them and ofcourse its always based on what’s also trendy. It’s my other way of expressing inner self and creativity.

I also styled my sisters during special occasion or even on a daily basis. How lucky are they?? LOL My sister’s names is sugar, apple and star. Cute names right?

One thing that I also like to do is posting #OOTD or outfit of the day on instagram during special occasions or just random days. Wearing good clothes for me help me gain confidence because to ne honest I’m introvert type of person. Wearing clothes that I like it makes me feel comfortable and to me it represents who you really are.

What’s your favorite? Mine’s the 4th photo because that outfit is DIY from head to foot.

And before I discovered and developed this passion for dressing up for myself or anyone, I started from sketching clothes to sewing clothes.

I don’t know but I just like doing something with my hands. I guess its really in me, the passion of doing or creating stuff, building something out of nothing. The artistic side of me is really kicking in. I’m fond of recreating clothes not just for myself but for my sisters I just love dressing them up. Watching youtuber Coolirpa of Thrifted transformation inspired me to transform old or thrifted clothes to something new or trendy.

I may not be the best tailor in town but somehow I learned the basic of sewing. There’s some people made me do their clothes for events. It started when I posted something on Facebook, a mom asked me to do her kid’s costume for a school program. I was stoked and ask myself “why me?” But who am I to say No?

Too much for that, let’ss go to the make up artist in me, So I started this hobby during my college days. I like looking at photos of someone revealing his/her true beauty, enhancing his/her features with the use of make up.

I decided to learn the art of Make up . So, I watched a lot of make up tutorials and from time to time I started buying make ups and well, since I have sisters, they were my first clients. I surely thank God for giving me my sisters for they are the reason why I dont have dull moments at home. They helped me enhance and develope my skills. Thanks also to my Mom and Dad for being so supportive in anything that I do.

Too much for my hobbies. I’d like to share one of my hidden passion which most of my new set of friends or co workers dont know because when I moved in Cebu for work I didn’t really show them any signs of this passion.

It’s Dancing.

Dancing became my stress reliever. My way of expressing positivity or happiness and releasing the negativity and anger.

Ever since I was still a kid my mom would enroll me every summer in a dance class together with my sisters. At first I felt I was forced to do it but later on I learned to love it. So with this lead me to audition in a Dance Group called DIP or Dance Impulse Productions which showcases different genres of dances like jazzfunk, sexy hiphop, hiphop and more. And I’m one proud member after a couple of strenuous trainings and dance lessons. Hardworks always pays off.

That was during on my early teen years. When I went to Cebu for work I was in this state of settling to a normal life. So I set aside my passion for dancing my hobbies for cake decorating and make up because when I started working I felt like all I need is rest after work. But something’s missing, I needed something to do like my the usual things I do before.
I started dancing again this happened when one co worker discovered I was a dancer. No secrets can be hidden. So this co worker of mine introduced me to join to his group called C2A or Cebu 2 All Stars. Now I’m a proud member.

Though I’m working on a different field which doesn’t involved art or any of my hobbies. I still have faith and I believe one day my goals and dreams will soon come true. With prayers and perserverance I’m sure I can make it.

Destiny has its ways to create your story but I still believe I’m the author of my own life. I’m still uncertain what path I going to take but I have faith. Faith moves moutains, (Mattew, 17:20) Slowly but surely I’m creating my own destiny.

My hobbies and passions is not just for money or extra income. It’s simply because this is what I love to do and doing what you love makes you happy and you know, Y.O.L.O you only love once. Let’s do more on things that makes us happy.
