Microsoft Explains the Cause of Losing Competition in Mobile Business and Search

in #microsoft7 years ago

Microsoft may be one of the largest technology companies in the world, but in fact there are still some unsuccessful business sectors. The company did not succeed in making great success in the mobile device and search business.
Reported by Softpedia, Thursday (31/5/2018), Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer, Brad Smith, explains why Microsoft failed to win the battle of search and mobile services.
A variety of antitrust cases (antipakat, cartel) involving Microsoft interfere with the company to stay focused on key products.

According to Smith, the problem makes the search service business as one area that can not be a huge success. The problem is making the company must pay dearly because of competitiveness with competitor products.

"Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer and the engineering leaders at our company spend a lot of time preparing things, how to defend themselves, how to implement this, that, or another," Smith explained to Kara Swisher of Recode, as quoted from Softpedia, Thursday (5/31/2018).

"But in the early 2000s we missed out on a search, this is not the only one we missed."

Swisher also mentioned the mobile as another industry, which also can not achieve great success. Microsoft has given up fighting Android and iOS phones, by shifting its focus to products like cloud and other services.

Smith then explains, no company can succeed in all areas of the market. He also stressed that if Microsof is not involved in antitrust battles, the company may be a more important player in various sectors such as search.

"I think someone has to admit that no one can get it all.No companies here or anywhere can also see all the trends that exist, before they grow," he said.

Microsoft is no longer a fang in the mobile market, but the company's search business is considered to have a good development. Based on the latest data, Bing search platform has more than 20 percent market share. Google still dominates the search services business.
