Asthma cases spikes in India specially in Ahmedabad

Asthma cases increased 25 percent in Ahmedabad last year, city doctors said. They added that the scary thing is that a third of Amdavadis suffer from lung disease even before turning 20.

Furthermore, about 50% of patients stop using half-inhaled therapy, which worsens the condition. An awareness campaign on how to effectively manage asthma was launched here in Ahmedabad on Friday.

The campaign was launched, called BerokZindagi, Dr. Rajesh Solanki (civil hospital), Dr. Narendra Rawal (chest doctor) and Mr. Xu-Urov Mukherjee, Senior Vice President (Cipla Respiratory).

This campaign aimed at dispelling myths and fear of asthma. Contributing to an increasing number of cases is air pollution involving particles, pollen, smoke, eating habits, undernourishment, genetic predisposition and ignorance.

"It is important to change the outlook towards asthma and inhalation therapy.Although inhalational therapy plays a crucial role in reducing the effect of asthma, compliance is critical.Inhaling medications goes directly to medicines.However, Solanki said patients who need to take treatment when they control Inhalation of asthma symptom treatment and exemption of infestation. "Enriching one's knowledge is also vital as patients stop treatment halfway."
