Meteors are known as shooting stars or falling stars.

Meteors are visible path of a meteoroid that enters the earth surface or another body which mostly occurs in the cloud or atmosphere. This effect is mostly seen visible in the night where there are other stars. It travels very fast just like a jet and it moves as if it is falling.

Why do they Appear and Disappear Swiftly?

I will answer this question based on 2 concepts. This is bifurcated into the Religious view and the Geographical view.

1) SCIENTIST VIEW : From a source online which is

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-causes-a-meteor-show/

Gregory A. Lyzenga, a physics professor at Harvey Mudd College, gives this description:

Larger meteors burn up as they enter the earth's atmosphere, creating fleeting streaks of light.

Meteor showers occur when the earth in its orbit around the Sun passes through debris left over from the disintegration of comets. Although the earth's orbit around the Sun is almost circular, most comets travel in orbits that are highly elongated ellipses. As a result, some comets have orbits that intersect or partially overlap the earth's path.

Because a comet's nucleus is made up of a combination of icy materials and loosely consolidated "dirt," when a comet is heated by passing close to the Sun, it more or less slowly disintegrates, producing the visible tail. The rocky debris, consisting of mostly sand-size particles, continues in an elongated orbit around the Sun close to that of its parent comet. When the earth intersects this orbit in its annual trip, it can run into this debris, which burns up on entry into the earth's atmosphere, producing a visible shower of meteors.

2) RELIGIOUS VIEW : The Islamic religion is of the view that meteors are used to burn down or punish the Jinns who climb up to the sky to steal information. The information stolen by the jinns are then mixed with 100 lies which is transmitted to a sooth sayer or someone who uses them to solve people's problems. The meteors helps to prevent them from listening to information.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helps.
