#In Memory Of...
Officially Memorial Day is the day set aside for all of us to remember the soldiers who have died defending our country. It is the last Monday in the month of May. The official birthplace of Memorial Day is Waterloo, New York. We also wear poppy flowers in remembrance of our fallen soldiers.
Not surprising, several other countries also celebrate Memorial Day. Those countries include: Britain, New Zealand and Australia, France, Nigeria, Italy and Canada. The holiday is celebrated in different months and on different days that the holiday here in the United States.
In my family, not only do we remember fallen veteran, but we remember our deceased family members. How we choose to honor them varies from year to year. Some years it may be a memorial wreath placed on the grave. Other years, it a large family gather (a reunion), where we share food, music and memories. Even more important, we create some new memories to sustain us until we meet again. We also simply celebrate the fact that we are a family. What are you doing n celebration of Memorial Day?
