most people think linux is this hacker-only thing thats superhard but in fact , and i speak from YEARS of experience, unless you use directx applications theres basically no reason for individuals to fork out 200 euros for an os b/c linux comes with about everything you have to buy separately, complete openoffice suite, GIMP which is pretty much alike to photoshop, only 100% free, blender for the 3d modelles , a TOn of free and opensource applications and in se is not harder to install than windows where by i think my personal fav desktop (cinnamon) beats windows by a lightyear ... i have two pc's running celeron cpus doing everything but gaming and they work perfect, a mini itx with a celeron and 8gb ddr4 fast ram and a cheap ssd drive to run LAMP (apache php and stuff, where i try to disable mysql because when i hear ppl talk about injecting its usually there) it runs like a breeze, i tested up to 50 simultaneous connections from verious points around the world, with no noticeable lag

its a question of being informed or having someone to walk you through the first install

i have a windows system which i use mainly to run steam and games on, and doubles when i plug in another hard drive as another linux system so yea :)

and true, microsoft openly admitted they just give the keys to the nsa, just like skype

true , all too true (which doesnt mean your linux is 100% failproof ofcourse, you can still open up all ports or push root commands, certain scripts you download from "nontrusted" sources might ask for root access on install and do gods-know-what to your system unless you can read the code but in general seeing as the market share is next to zip compared to windows most malware, about every malware out there will be aimed at zombifying windos pcs where certain unix servers might just get attention from specialized software, or tweaked, or basically the best option if you're really the ultrahacker of fancy bear/mitnick level is simply to apply for a job as sysadmin lol

i mean he who controls the logfiles etc ...
