But I think she was a combination of good looks(WE COULD ARGUE ABOUT THAT), Olympic level ground-game(ABOUT THAT WE CANNOT), being there at the perfect moment when women's MMA was (Metro:) Boomin. And the most important thing, poor competition! She was like Royce Gracie in his great run. Except that Royce is a living legend, until this day, and he still fights !!!
Most of the girls fighting back then, started fighting because they did some karate classes or something back at the kinder garden and thought she's the next big thing. I also wonder why most of them are blonde hmm? :)
But Ronda was different, her mother is coming from a Judo background, and she put that work ethic in Ronda's mind at the early age & Ronda took full advantage of it. She was the first American woman to earn an Olympic medal in judo (bronze), at the 2008 games! Props for that!
But let's face it she was all hype! Strike Force gave her wings AND the UFC pushed her in to the sky!
