Easiest ways to relax and unwind through simple meditation.

I'm sure everyone has heard of the ongoing trend, namely yoga and meditation. I personally have friend's who spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on yoga sessions and meditation classes. What if I told you that you could be a master at meditation in just 5 minutes? No its not voodoo or any form of religion, just a simple technique you can practice at home daily that will instantly give you a sense of calm as well as improve your attention.

Before we begin, I need you to acknowledge the fact that there is a living force within you and essentially what we will be doing is to create awareness of that life force such that it brings us peace.

So shall we begin?

STEP 1: Sit in a comfortable position anywhere (preferably in nature or somewhere quiet) . Try to ensure that some part of you is connected to the ground just to keep that energy flowing.

STEP 2: Place your left hand with your palm facing upwards on your lap and your right hand over your heart. The reason we do this is to keep our palms open to the energy that surrounds us and we place our right hand on our hearts to instil a sense of sincerity within us when we ask for this inner peace and quiet. Just keep our eyes closed to prevent any distractions.

STEP 3: Simplest step of all. Here we sincerely ask this living force within us to rid us of all our past and just give us peace. We can also ask for our spirit to feel cleansed or pure. We can just affirm this by acknowledging this energy within us and say that we are the pure spirit/ we are a cleansed soul.

STEP 4: Now we believe that there is an energy channel that runs through our spine which carries this life force all the way from the base of our spines to the top of our heads. So just for experimental purposes we can bring our right hand to the top of our head and then place the centre of our palm at the fontanelle bone area (soft spot at the top of our heads).

STEP 5: Over here we sincerely ask this energy to awaken within us and to give us our self realization( knowledge of one's self such that we are at peace with our self). We will be doing all of the above with our eyes closed. Just sit in silence for a few moments with both your palms facing upwards on your lap and just keep your attention at the top of your head. Try to remain totally calm and relaxed. If you ever feel like thoughts are bombarding you, just assure yourself that you have forgiven these thoughts.

STEP 6: Now bring your right hand back to the top of your head, just a few inches above the area you put pressure on. Try to feel a cool or warm sensation coming from that area. It should feel almost like a breeze. No, not one that comes from the air conditioning but a breeze coming directly from that area of your scalp.

This life force within you is almost like a living breathing being in itself. Once its awakened you will generally feel a sense of overwhelming peace within you. Once you have done this, just sit in silence with your palms on your lap preferably facing upwards just to feel connected with the energy surrounding you.

Whenever you feel stressed and need to escape just try doing this and you should feel at ease within minutes.
