The overuse of Antibiotics and the rise of Superbugs!

For my first blog, I'd like to share my concerns over the overuse of Antibiotics.
How many of you have been to the Dr. recently with flu like symptoms or a common cold or coughing, wheezing and/or congested?
Chances are many of you have and the chance are many of you were prescribed antibiotics.
"Unfortunately, antibiotics cannot help with colds and flus. And research shows that taking antibiotics when we don’t need them is actually dangerous to our health and wastes money, too."

Please share this and educate your peers, family and even your healthcare professionals.
Many times a day or 2 of rest and fluids is all it takes.
Pleases help prevent the rise of antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria "SUPERBUGS" that can be very dangerous in the near future.

Great information for people to hear about. As a Physician Assistant I find many people are disgruntled if they leave their appointment without a prescription. Would be helpful for them to learn more about antibiotic resistance.

Absolutely! Most Dr.s feel compelled to give an RX even when it's not necessary. The patient feels like they're not getting anything out of the visit without an RX.
Sad but true.

We're in urgent need of new antibiotics, as tens of thousands of people all across Europe dies every year because of antibiotic resistance.

By the way, I wrote a short article on how our current model for financing new antibiotics is not sustainable: https://steemit.com/politics/@protoken/antibiotic-resistance-we-can-develop-new-antibiotics-but-need-a-new-way-to-finance-it
