The Blue Room Health Hackathon
A hackaton is a competition that works to provide solution to impending problems with the aid of tech developers and project managers.
It's gotten from two words hack and marathon.
As a medical student; I was oppourtuned in getting involved in one and I'll be sharing some of the concepts.

THE BLUE ROOM CONCEPT
It was probably named so because the delivery room in the University College Hospital is painted blue.
It is aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality which could have been easily avoided.
The team aims to develop an app that gives women information on :
Preconception care:- things to do while you are thinking of or ready to getting pregnant.
Conception care: things to do when you are already pregnant to ensure a safe delivery. Information on antenatal;drugs to use;drugs to stay away from would all be dealt with.
Post Conception:
Family planning; immunisation services and other pressing issues would be dealt with.
MY PERSONAL OPINION
Considering the fact that according to the WHO in 2015; 303,000 women died from complications of childbirth which could have been avoided; this idea is a really great idea.
Information is really power and can go a long way in saving lives.
I would however have preferred this idea as a winner if the app has an alarm to remind mothers of their Antenatal appointments and also immunization schedules since they have a relatively fixed timing.

APP DEVELOPMENT
It's going to be developed as an Android app beacause it's easier and cheaper. Also, most people use Android enabled phones.
I however wonder if something else can be done for the population of Nigerians who have no access to Android enabled phones.
Other concepts would be coming up so stay!
MAY THE BEST MAN WIN.
