The Final Master - Martial Arts Movie Review
Here's a review of a great martial arts movie, and even better that it's about Wing Chun.
Plot: 3/5
The movie is about a guy who's trying to build a Wing Chun school in TianJian, China. If he doesn't pass on his knowledge of the Wing Chun system, it will be lost forever. There seems to be a lot of rules and traditions he must abide by, in order to be accepted as a legitimate martial arts school.
The whole movie almost feels slow, but all the fight scenes more than makes up for it.
Action: 5/5
To be honest, the fight scenes was what captivated me. It's always more entertaining for me to watch a martial arts movie when the main actor is an actual martial artist. Of course its all "choreographed movie fighting"; but the way the main actor executes his moves and the way he handles the bat jam dao (butterfly sword) was awesome! The timing, footwork, and the way he eats his opponents space was truly entertaining to watch.
Another awesome element of the movie was the weapons fighting. If you are a fan of Wing Chun, this is a great movie to see applications of the butterfly sword and the long pole. Furthermore, it was interesting seeing the butterfly swords being connected to a staff. That was the first time ever seeing a weapon being used like that.
I wish they made more movies like this.
I'll be watching this movie again!
